V-Commandos - June update

Here is some news about the project. 

Important news

First of all, there is something I want to share with you: the project will have a few months' delay and will not be delivered in November as planned. I sincerely apologise for this. To remain transparent, I would say that the main reason is that I have far too many things to do other than “just” creating the game, and I underestimated some of these tasks. I work with more and more people to reduce this delay and I target Q1 2016 to deliver the game and its expansions. The main reasons are:

  • Creating 2 expansions besides creating the core game. V-Commandos is almost completed, but the 2 expansions include as much objectives and operations to create (and test / balance) as the core game.
  • The difficulty to find distributors and agree with them to allow the game reaching the stores.
  • The multiple improvements to each game element and the time to update all the files and rules.
  • The creation (and updates) of the prototypes and Print and Play versions. 
  • Communication takes time (newsletters, Facebook, forums, podcasts, interviews). 
  • The game includes many illustrations and it was challenging to find artists believing in the project during the very first months.
  • And as you probably realised, I do my best to constantly improve all aspects of the game, particularly by looking for players feedbacks and run many playtests.

The project continues to move forward, so let's check the latest assets!

Playtests

We have more and more operations and objective cards (currently 12 operations and 36 objective cards) and more playtests will be organised during the next months to test and balance them. Jean-François Chrétien, passionate gamer, will join us to handle some of these tests in Montréal. JF will attend to Gencon this year and plans one demo for V-Commandos (July 30th in the evening, to be confirmed).

Voici quelques nouvelles du projet. 

Nouvelle importante

Tout d'abord, je tiens à partager avec vous le fait que le projet va avoir quelques mois de retard et ne pourra pas être livré en novmbre comme prévu initialement. Je tiens sincèrement à m'en excuser. Afin de rester transparent, je dirais que la raison principale est que j'ai bien trop de choses à faire en dehors de la création du jeu lui-même, et que j'avais sous-estimé une partie de ces tâches. Je travaille avec de plus en plus de personnes pour réduire au maximum ce retard, et je vise désormais premier trimestre 2016 pour livrer le jeu et ses extensions. Les raisons principales sont : 

  • La création de 2 extensions en plus de V-Commandos. V-Commandos est presque fini, mais les 2 extensions représentent à peu près autant d'objectifs à créer (et à tester / équilibrer) que le jeu de base.
  • La difficulté à trouver des distributeurs et à se mettre d'accord avec pour que le jeu arrive en magasin.
  • Les multiples améliorations apportées à chaque élément du jeu et le temps passé à mettre à jour tous les fichiers et les règles.
  • La création (ou la mise à jour) de prototypes et versions Print and Play.
  • La communication prend du temps (newsletters, Facebook, forums, podcasts, interviews).
  • Le jeu contient beaucoup d'illustrations et il a été difficile de trouver les artistes qui croient en ce projet durant les tout premiers mois.
  • Et comme vous vous en êtes sans doute rendu compte, ma volonté de faire le maximum pour améliorer le jeu, notamment en cherchant des retours des joueurs et en faisant tester le jeu autant que je peux.

Le projet continue d'avancer cependant, alors place aux dernières nouveautés !

Playtests

Les opérations et cartes objectifs sont de plus en plus nombreuses (actuellement nous avons 12 opérations et 36 cartes objectifs) et davantage de playtests seront organisés dans les prochains mois pour les tester afin de les équilibrer. Jean-François Chrétien, joueur passionné, va nous rejoindre pour organiser et superviser une partie de ces tests dans la région de Montréal. JF sera aussi à la Gencon cette année et prévoit de faire une démo de V-Commandos (le 30 juillet en soirée, à confirmer).

      @Gamer: Totally agree with you, play test the hell out of this game please, a few kickstarter games I have got in the past have obviously not been playtested enough and it just ruins the game.

      Never Expected any kickstarter project to be on time, really! if it happens well good ! BUT i would rather get a finished, balanced and great product than a half finished broken project, Thanks for doing this the great way. Hope to see ya @ stack soon !!

      Delays on KS projects are the norm rather than the rarity so no problem with that at all. So long as you continue your fine updates then that just makes the anticipation of receiving the game, a reality...Companies that suddenly "go dark" are the ones that annoy and anger backers but you have proven to be above that..Good Luck and looking forward to the eventual release of V-Commandos....

      I also prefer to wait a bit longer and to get a finished game! Will there be a game demo in Essen?

      After seeing all those character artworks I would rally like to see them made into miniatures, they look so amazing.

      I'm totally cool with it! If you've done any kickstarter before you come to realize this thing is the norm with the bigger games.
      Plus, we are getting so much content and game play that I want it done right and not done quick and have assed! If this means you need to take as much time as possible to get it right then so be it! Just don't forget to constantly update us as often as you can, this is the make or break to a company going off the rails!

      Take your time....do not worry. play test it, play test it , play test it..is de only important thing here. Better obtain a good game someday in 2016..that a game with problems now. Thanks for the update.
