Beginning to Wrap Up: Post-Kickstarter week 32

Posted by Isaac Childres (Creator)

A good day to all you residents of Gloomhaven!

I must say, things are going pretty well over here at Gloomhaven Headquarters. The final pass at the rule book is great. Everything is falling into place with that. I got all the icons updated on the scenario book and gave it a good, solid edit, and now it is in the hands of other people who are much better at editing than I am, which fills me with hope.

Plus, I'm just happy to not be staring at it for 10-12 hours a day anymore. A change of scenery can be positively uplifting.

So what's next on the agenda?  It's funny because someone asked me this yesterday, and it took me a while to come up with a response because I had just been so focused on the scenario book. I'd like to do a little more fine-tuning on some of the character classes, and then it's just a matter of getting all the odds and ends tied up, getting every single component approved and finalized for the printer.

And here is one of those components Josh spent some time on recently. I give you the new and improved elemental infusion table!

I think the extra glow effects really punch it up in a good way, adding to the concept of strongly infused elemental energy. You will also notice the addition of a round tracker, which was snuck into the last version of the rule book. The element table was the natural place to put a round tracker, since you'll be moving the elements down at the end of each round anyway.

For most of the scenarios, you won't need the round tracker, but some do require you to keep track of what round it is, so we implemented a better way to do that. Scenarios can go past 12 rounds, of course, but there aren't any where you will need to track the exact round number past 12.

I mentioned last week that the molds were close to finished for the miniatures. I don't have the samples in my hands yet, but the manufacturer sent me some pictures of the first iterations. There were a few minor problems that are being fixed, but I just wanted to let you know that things are still progressing on that front.

All right, so one last thing I wanted to mention is that Geekway to the West is next week. Yay! Are you going to Geekway to the West? I'm going to Geekway to the West. We should hang out. We can play Gloomhaven, or Terra Mystica, or whatever else you might want to play. It will be great.

And I think that's about it. We are nearing the end of the road. Thanks for taking the journey with me.

Until next time!

I have red the rules and they are really clear and exciting. I cannot wait for this game (I hoped so much to bring it with me in August holidays , but this will happen next summer).

I have two questions: how long are the scenario in time. with respect other games the scenario map seems quite small (I saw it on a file sent some months ago)

and if during the playlets someone had experience of too much thinking to choice the strategy and the cards to be played

It's what the tracking token will look like. That's what you'll move around. The 4 spot looks just like the other ones, only with a "4" on it.

So, about this round tracker... I've been looking at the 4 space, trying to make sense of it. Does that thing represent the token that will be used? Is this some sort of contraption as opposed to, say, "just a piece of cardboard"? Maybe it's simply an artistic flourish? I mean, I can go all day if you want, haha... But I figured it's probably best to just ask and save time.

Make sure to get a professional proof read. I hope guys here on the KS project supplied enough feedback on structure and organisation @ rules as written.

Haha, I was trying not to name-drop. It was Paul Grogan, guys. I was talking to Paul Grogan on Thursday about the Gloomhaven rules video.

"someone" asked you what you were working on next? What an evil man ;)

@aron - good point. I'll make it stand out a bit more!

Really like the overall idea and look on the spiffied up infusion table, but I do have to note that the frost/snowflake icon does get a bit lost on the darkest row. May not be an issue in print but on screen it's a touch hard to make out. May want to tweak the alignment of the underlying texture there.. Josh has a little ribbon of lighter wood right next to it that if pulled over a few points might alleviate that issue.

Just email me or send me a Kickstarter message, preferably with a phone number, and we'll figure something out.

Holy crap! You'll be at Geekway, if I want to play a game with you, how should I find you?
