Miniature Successes: Post-Kickstarter week 15

Posted by Isaac Childres (Creator)

Hello residents of Gloomhaven!

I hope you are doing well. It's been a busy week over here, but there's not a whole lot to report at the moment.

And I'll just be honest - I've written about a hundred event cards over the last week and I'm not sure how much writing is left in me. It's been a lot of fun and I've made significant progress, but there's not a lot I can show you since discovery of the events and the outcomes is part of the fun of the game. I'm really excited about them, though.

Oh, and you know what else I am excited about?

I got hard plastic samples of all 18 miniatures from the factory and they look great. They have an incredibly satisfying amount of detail, and I could not be more pleased.

I'm not sure these pictures are doing them justice, but I hope at least some of the wonder I am experiencing looking at these is coming through to you.

Let me try one more time with my wife's phone (which has a much better camera).

Now, just to be clear, these are hard plastic samples. I'm still haven't received samples in the soft plastic material that the miniatures will actually be made of. Obviously that will still need to happen before we move forward with production, but if these samples are any indication, I don't expect there will be any problem.

So I hope those miniatures got you in an anticipatory mood because the time has come to vote for Gloomhaven as one of your most anticipated games of the year.

It is, isn't it? I don't mean to presume, but you are here reading this update, so, I mean, I just figured it might be. So go vote for it.

And that all there is! Have a great week and I'll see you next time!

The mini's are looking good. I understand these are the hard plastic, I assume you might have to go through a few rounds of Test Shots of the soft material before you give the Vendor the final go to print all 5k+ copies of each fig.. Stay vigilant, I would like them to get as close to these hard plastic samples. :))))))

If your happy; then i'm happy!, Fuck the backer mentality that KS has created with these 'perfectionist miniature specialist' ' tm' . It's a fucking game; if a character mold is off LIVE WITH IT>>> The game kills it with everything else.. Yes i say this with only one backer complaint below, but putting it forth as I personally am sick of the backer 'entitlement' on KS.

I think the miniatures look fine.,they serve a purpose, but laser cut counters/thick cardboard standees with the beautiful artwork would be just fine by me.
I love the artwork for each character on the campaign front page. Huge thumbs up!!!

Thanks again for the constant reports of progress!!
I really like the minis and hope that a lot of the detail will remain on the real versions, too.
In addition to this, I cannot stop being impressed at the steady pace and output you report!

Well, i didn't have to vote just once in each category...or I'm afraid 7th Continent would have beat you out several times. But as it is, Gloomhaven's got some pretty good numbers!

Initially I was wondering if I should get the minis or not - now I'm glad I did.

I think the miniatures look fine. I like the big fellas fur coat.

Apart from the Mind Thief, all the poses look a bit boring, but not bad at all. The details look good, hopefully most of it translates to the soft plastic miniatures we are going to get.
I'm really looking forward to the events in the finished game, hopefully every one is as good as the last one. :)

    9. Reed Dawley

      I think they look great.

Different strokes, I guess :) The Craighead the is my favorite sculpt

Just base spray quickshade them, but them under good directional light and you will see the awesome.

Jeff, yes, I figure as much, but at least we're on the right track so far.

Philipp, I'm not sure what you mean by "funky." Funky how?

    13. Philipp Ottensamer

Um, sorry to be the downer here, but the golem thingy in the first picture on the left looks a bit "funky" - and not in a good way. :/

    14. Jeff

The hard plastic minis look great, but you going to lose detail in going to soft plastic.

    15. RavenMad on

I have to admit, those hard plastic minis look better than I had anticipated from the white metal masters we initially saw - very happy! Really appreciate you continuing to keep us updated with progress, Isaac. Now, I'm off to vote! :D

Good thing you weren't up against Kingdom Death: Monster in any of your categories. That would have been a tough choice.
