A stretching legacy

Well, due to our heroic acceleration in pledges in the last couple days and the anticipated 48-hour extravaganza, I decided to go ahead and give you all the stretch goals up to $300,000.

You deserve it, after all.

So what do we have coming up? What was I just so stupidly excited about?

Well, at $280,000 we have none other than Rob Daviau joining us to write a guest scenario! You know Rob Daviau, right? He made a little game called Risk Legacy. And also Pandemic Legacy, which is probably the most hotly anticipated Essen release this year.

Yeah, that guy. I got a chance to talk to him on the Game Design Round Table podcast with Dirk Knemeyer earlier this week, and he was so excited about Gloomhaven that he hardly let Dirk talk at all.  (The podcast episode won't be aired until after the campaign ends, but I'll let you know when it is.)

I asked Rob if he'd be interested in designing a scenario, and he was very happy to do so. And now I'm happy, and hopefully all of you are happy too!

Rob's Legacy games have obviously had a huge impact on the development of Gloomhaven and I am totally honored that he has decided to contribute a scenario. It's funny because during the podcast he said he was looking forward to actually playing a game with a persistent world instead of having to make it, but now I've roped him into helping make it anyway, even if it is just a small part.

After that we've got two more fan-made scenarios. We have over 20 submissions currently and a lot of them are really good, so I didn't see any reason not to include a couple more in the box. Plus you've still got the weekend to submit more scenarios! I'm going to try to make decisions on Monday, so get on it!

Lastly, at the risk of being predictable, I've made another character class unlockable at $300,000. I felt we really needed a 6th starting class to round out the team, but "starting class" is all I'm saying for now. Expect more teases in the days to come!

All right, I am getting in my car and driving to Michigan now. Try not to burn everything down while I'm gone.

      yea, sometimes i dont know why rahdo plays boardgames, they seem to hate him LOL. you should sit and watch the project elite one he did, for the life of him he couldnt roll a gun.. LOL LOL..

      Rahdo's propensity to find 2x/null cards was uncannily high. There is a lot less shuffling than his video implies. Adding another 2x/null card would definitely break the game, as those options would become more likely, which is not something I want.

      now seriously... i being watching gameplay and was wondering, either (like anotatins says) rahdo has the most odd luck or there is quite a bit of shuffling with that attack deck. Would a SG to have an extra 2+ / null card on those deck be possible? so that we only need to shuffle when both are out. Or would that brake the mechanic? or be too costy to do as SG? thx :)

      @isaac oh could we get more monster ability cards as one of the next SG? or wouyld that be too much? dunno if others think that that is needed.

      or 3D terrain for the traps / chest .. i would vote to get those as addon, so people that want the fluzz can get it without affecting more gameplay in SG for others... but... can you imaging that? it would make the board look even better.. and by 3d terrain i dont mean plastic mini stuff, just cardboard terrains traps, chest, doors..
      i know im dreaming, but it would look sooooo awesome :)

      PS agreed, will make it to 350k so get ready some goodies for us :)

      PS i might look into pandemic legacy :P

      I like the way how you communicate about the progress of Gloomhaven. Gives me a good feeling about backing this promising game :)

      That's so cool @ 6th starting class.
      One caveat: I think 300.000 WILL NOT CUT IT. You will need at least SGs until 320k :)!

      A 6th starting class? Awesome. I don't think anyone's going to be at a loss for choosing their starting character with a 6th!

      I always thought Risk looked boring, but Risk Legacy is awesome! I need to get my hands on Pandemic Legacy.
