You all have been one amazing bunch and it's only been about 12 hours.

$50,000 in 12 hours! I am just...I am just taken aback. This is beyond what I could have expected.

I am afraid to go to sleep because you crazy people might fund the project while I am gone. We might fund in less than a day! With a goal I was concerned might be too large.

Okay, look. If it happens while I'm asleep, someone better take a screen shot.

I want to sit here and extoll your virtues for hours, but, seriously, I am incredibly tired.

The first stretch goal

Because you nuts may hit it very soon, though, let's talk a bit about the first stretch goal. Have you heard of Perdition's Mouth?

Rahdo did a run-through a little while back and I was very intrigued. Campaign tactical combat with no game master and no dice? Sound familiar?

The man behind the game, Timo Multamäki, and I got to talking and thought it would be a cool idea to design scenarios for each other's games. So if we reach $80,000, he'll come aboard and contribute a side scenario for Gloomhaven with his own unique flair.

I am very excited to see what he comes up with, with his darker horror tendencies. It probably won't involve puppies and rainbows.

Other issues

And finally let's talk about the two big issues of the day, one of them expected, one of them unexpected.

First of all, some of you don't like stickers or permanent changes to your game. I understand. The game is designed to incorporate permanent changes because that raises the stakes of what your doing and makes everything more exciting, but still, I understand.

We will do out best to provide you with documents that you can use to track changes without having to alter anything permanently. These documents very likely won't come in the box, but will be available on BoardGameGeek sometime before the game arrives on your doorstep.

Second of all, an unexpectedly large number of you seem to want both the miniatures and the standees for each character class. I honestly did not see this coming, so I don't have a good resolution for you at this point. The most sensible thing to do right now is to change your pledge to the $64 pledge level, then type in $84 in the pledge amount field (plus shipping). By adding $20 to your pledge, you will get a box of minis in addition to a game box full of standees. Because all pledge levels will get all pertinent unlocked stretch goals, you can rest assured that you will not miss anything.

I know getting both is a little clunkier than it should be. As I said, it caught me by surprise. I'll be working on a full resolution to this issue tomorrow.

But for now, I will rest assured that you guys are the best, and that someone will take a screenshot for me (with the time visible) if something ridiculously unheard of happens.

Do you think you will get around to addressing the problem of wanting the standees and the miniatures or will we have to just pick the $64 pledge and add $20. Thanks.

Isaac - thanks for that insight. Perhaps this will be the game that gets me over my OCD about keeping games in pristine condition (I never ever trade on my own personal games so that's not an excuse for me!). Quite often I don't even use the provided score-pad, I use photocopies! Yes, it's that bad!

I was going to see about wrapping my board in some kind of plastic that I could switch out, but tracking things on a downloaded "world state" sheet would do as well. However, I do love the idea of sharing the world between varying game groups. I've been looking for ways to play role-playing games that way because we can't get a consistent game group on a regular schedule, and this could end up filling that role if it allows for actual role-play.

In my case, not defacing the board would be more about making the game replayable when we get to a point where we feel the campaign is over and should be reset, or keep it clean if I ever want to resell it. That, and the fact that writing in a book or on a game feels like sacrilege to me.

I too am all in for the stickers and permanent changes. Wouldn't a simpler solution for folks be to have extra game boards and stickers available for sale separately? I think that is what Shadowrun DBG does.

Jedra, if you are concerned about playing the game with multiple game groups, I will copy something I said on BGG (because I don't think I could say it as well again:

"One of the central ideas of the game is that you can play in the same world state with multiple game groups and there is enough content to do so. You'll never need to "reset" because you'll be excited about how playing the game with some new group will continue unlocking stuff in the world you already spent so much time customizing."

Your mileage on that may vary, but that is the strong intent of the game.

      +1 for the app.

For the Standee+Mini thing, I think it shouldn't be an issue to just add a pledge level that just the Standee set with the mini addon together for just convenience. I think you can add pledge levels during the campaign.

I like the app idea - so you can have diffrent partys with similar hereos in the same world without it gets to fiddy.

What about as a bigger stretch goal a simple app that keeps track of things for you so you can undo it later?

Bring on the Stickers!!! I have yet to try any Legacy game with persistent changes to the game world, so this will be my first (unless I can get a hold of Pandemic Legacy before this one is on my table) so I'm ALL FOR IT!

      Thanks for the update Isaac.

Would it be possible for backers to get access to a PDF so we can make our own standees if we pledge at the mini level?

I am not a fan of stickering my games either, so will be using the resources you provide to track the game. My reason being is that it is extremely unlikely that the same group of people will be playing the game each time.

      Looking good though!
