A Moment From the Past

We want to take a moment of your time to let you know about Murray Koffler. At 93 years old he recently passed away. Murray was the founder of Shoppers Drug Mart stores, as well as being a massive influence in the arts culture with his philanthropy in Toronto where AH Comics operates. The Koffler's are family friends of AH Comics' owner, and the Koffler Centre for the Arts has housed several exhibitions featuring some of the Jewish Comics Anthology's artists, as well as was the site for our launch party for Volume 1 of the Anthology in 2014.

His decades of support for the arts and community earned him numerous provincial, federal and institutional awards, most notably the Order of Canada in 1977 "for his many services to his community as businessman, philanthropist and patron of the arts." The Order of Canada is one of the highest honours in the country.

Murray Koffler was an extremely active member of the Jewish community at home and overseas, and aimed to help society and people progress to a point of equality in business, the arts and community.

Introducing the Future

Speaking of Toronto arts and community, we are enthralled to welcome to SCI The Jewish Comics Anthology Volume 2 the exceptional talents of M. Blankier!

She is an editor and author from Toronto, and will be contributing a story for our Anthology that one of our award-winning artists will illustrate. Her work has been included in Iron Man and Strange Romance comics.

Currently you can see her in the upcoming collection of stories called Wayward Sisters: An Anthology of Monstrous Women. The piece by Blankier is called "Low Tide", which is one of 25 in a 200+ page collection that "celebrates lady and non-binary monsters who are indelicate, impolite, and irrepressible."

Wayward Sisters is a great looking collection, and an important one. It is in its final days on Kickstarter, so if you love SCI, than you will also love this collection! Check 'em out here:
