THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS BACKED US SO FAR!!!
Thanks to all of you who have so generously supported our Kickstarter campaign. We have two weeks left and we are over a quarter of the way towards being funded! Let's bring Tim Timmerman to life!
When I was a kid I dreamed of one day growing up to make movies.
But when I got older I let fear get in the way and decided instead to go into a safe career in business.
When I graduated from college I got a great job working for a venture capitalist. But after a few years suppressing the nagging feeling inside to make movies, I couldn't fight it anymore. I had to follow my dreams.
So I quit my job and applied to film schools all over the country and got into a really great film program in Southern California.
Film school was awesome! I met kids just like me with a passion for telling stories.
For my graduate thesis project I made a short film called "She's a Fox," which starred then unknown Hailee Steinfeld just before the Coen Brothers cast her to play Mattie Ross in their iconic remake of "True Grit."
"She's a Fox" was a semi-autobiographical film about my first relationship in the fifth grade. The film far exceeded my expectations, becoming one of the most popular short films in the world in 2010, screening in over 60 film festivals worldwide and winning numerous awards. Here's a link if you want to check it out:
I just finished writing my first feature film, which like my short film, is also based my personal experiences as quite possibly the worst student body president in the history of SBA presidents. It's a high school comedy set in the early 90's called "Tim Timmerman, Hope of America." The only thing I can compare it to is maybe "Rushmore" meets "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." Here's a sample movie poster we put together:
I love this movie so much that I sold just everything I own to raise money for development funds.
I sold all my furniture
I sold my scooter
I even sold my priceless Ice Cube gold record
Now I just need the funds to produce the film.
I've gathered together a really talented crew of filmmakers who are excited to make this movie. We've scouted out locations, storyboarded the more complicated scenes, and once we get funded we can start working on casting.
With your help, I can bring this film to life. When I think of this movie on the big screen it gets me so excited I can hardly stand it.
Thank you for checking out my project and for donating what you can. You're helping to make my childhood dream come true.
One of the rewards we're offering is a private ski day at Snowbird with Writer/Director Cameron Sawyer and his sister, Suzanne Sawyer. Suzanne is a professional skier who was in numerous Warren Miller movies in the 90's. Here's a link to a video of her skiing at Snowbird. Her clip starts at 2:45 and ends at 3:36.
