In 2016 we launched our first Kickstarter project and we got an astounding response from the amazing Kickstarter community. 1800 believers from 55 countries saw our vision of creating high quality executive novelties and turned our vision to a reality. Now we are back on Kickstarter with our second product to continue this journey where it was started.
It’s mind bending to see water levitate on Earth because of gravity of course. Well, as you may know from our previous Kickstarter project, we like to tease gravity. So, we’re pleased to announce our next product, LeviZen, the mind blowing liquid levitator!
We’d like to think that LeviZen brings outer space on your desk by giving you the chance to experience water in zero gravity in person for the first time. Meticulously crafted from fine walnut wood and precision machined aluminum, LeviZen is fundamentally a liquid levitator using high frequency sound waves which are not audible to our ears.
When observed, water is a magical material, it’s formless and it adapts it’s shape to the object it’s poured in. But when it’s suspended in the air, its character is unveiled and all of a sudden you can see water for the first time.
Let’s take up a notch. Not only LeviZen can levitate water and liquids in general, it can make them light up in the air as well. The two spot LEDs placed in the base of the levitator targeted right at the levitating drop, make the drop glow like a light source as if the light itself is levitating.
We believe a product should express the owner by its design and functionality. Besides it’s mind boggling properties we want your LeviZen to aesthetically make you proud showcasing it on your work desk, coffee table, end table, or a bookshelf.
To make the design as awesome as it’s functionality, we decided to give LeviZen a retro look by using walnut wood with CNC machined and hand finished aluminum. Then, we put all the electronics in a separate box, called it “The Box” and added three retro toggle switches for Power on/off, Light on/off, and moving the water drop up and down while it’s levitating. We added an all aluminum knob for controlling the power level, a retro 7 segment display to show the power level, and rounded the top two corners just the right amount that LeviZen looked like a retro amplifier and stereo set in a quick glance. We are proud of our LeviZen sitting on our desk defying gravity by levitating water drops and we are sure you will too when you experience owning a LeviZen.
The Box is the control center for the levitating drop. Every liquid levitates at a different level. The denser the liquid is the more power it needs to levitate. For this, we added an all Aluminum metal knob that organically changes the power level by a simple turn while the 7 segmented display shows the resting power level. LeviZen not only can levitate liquids, it also can move the drop up and down while its levitating by one of the the three metal toggle switches on The Box. The other two toggle switches are the main power on/off and the light on/off controls.
Levitating multiple drops of water by LeviZen:
Moving the Levitating drop up and down by using the top toggle switch on the Box:
LeviZen levitates water using two identical sound waves that travel against each other which together create a standing wave. This wave has places on it where it does not move at all while all the other places of this wave move at maximum level. These non-moving places are called nodes. When a water drop is placed at the nodes, the water drop gets trapped by the standing waves' maximum moving parts beneath and above the nodes. And just like that we get a levitating water drop.
We want the world to experience water levitation. This phenomenon was invented many years ago and has been living in the science labs around the world ever since and there has not been a finished product in the market since then so everyone can simply buy and experience this surreal invention. We want to change that with LeviZen. Asier Marzo from the University of Bristol is one of the pioneers in the field of acoustic levitation and LeviZen is mostly based on one of his earlier works. We gathered all the information on sound levitation, figured out an efficient way of assembling LeviZen’s 100+ parts, gave it a beautiful retro design, added a set of bright spot LEDs to make the liquid bubble glow like a lamp to make it even more mind blowing and came up with LeviZen. Now, everything is ready and we’re ready to craft these machines so everyone around the world can experience the mind bending event of water levitation.
Note: Asier Marzo is not affiliated in any way with LeviZen or Simplistyk and the use of his work is compliant with his research paper’s license. The Paper
Risks and challenges
Similar to our previous project, we are going to use the same manufacturing partners in Southern California to manufacture the needed parts and also similar to our previous project, we are going to take care of the assembly, testing, and quality control. From our side, we don’t see a potential roadblock and based on our plan, we should be able to have all the pledges manufactured, assembled, and shipped on-time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
