About

Drabbledark: An Anthology of Dark Drabbles is a digital speculative fiction anthology of drabbles. What is a Drabble? A Drabble is a story told in exactly 100 words. It leaves no room for extraneous material. It’s a hit and run, a flash in the pan, a dagger to the heart.

Drabbledark is a collection of 100 drabbles. 100 tales of horror, science fiction, and fantasy from over seventy five authors from all over the world. All stories are dark. The anthology collects the work of new and established authors equally and represents a collection of some of the strongest work in the format. A strong mix of original and reprinted stories.

So what’s this project all about?

Paying our authors for their work, and professional ebook formatting. The goal set for this campaign is sufficient for providing our authors a .01 a word advance for their story as well as professional ebook formatting. It’s only right that the authors of this anthology get paid for the creative work they’ve put into their stories. .01 a word is the minimum payment, our stretch goals reflect that we think they deserve to be paid more for their hard work and we need your help to bring that to life.

Here are our stretch goals:

$250 - Authors get .02 a word per story. Print and Audiobooks will be published as well.

$350 - Authors get .03 a word per story.

$450 - Authors get .04 a word per story.

$550 - Authors get .05 a word per story.

$650 - Authors get .06 a word per story. (Professional rates per SFWA guidelines - The threshold we wish to reach)

$850 - Five bonus stories which will be solicited from big names in the top three speculative fiction genres will be added to the anthology.

$1,000 - Another five stories will be solicited plus a foreword from a prolific short fiction author to be disclosed upon reaching this goal.

$1,500 - Authors get .10 a word per story.

Risks and challenges

As the anthology is already assembled, I really don’t see any risks. However, in all fairness to the authors I feel as though it is only right that they get paid for their work. If this project doesn’t get off the ground they will only be paid .01 a word, which is far less than thier creativity is worth. That’s the only challenge I foresee.
