About this project
Dining With Darling is a new 13 episode Cooking Show Series, slated for airing on Public Television this fall across the country. Your host, Chef Keith Darling, will demonstrate and demystify delicious, savory dishes inspiring everyone to cook with confidence. Celebrating the best of local produce, growers, wines and food purveyors, he brings ‘fresh from the heart’ tips, techniques, recipes, and wine pairings.
“My parents instilled in me early on that growing, preparing and eating good food shared at our table created an atmosphere where we could talk and share as a family. Sharing the table with family and friends, whether a simple meal or an elaborate feast, brings people together" -- Chef Darling
Professionally trained in New Orleans in the classic French method and technique, Chef Darling guides you in bringing “new news to the table” with his down-to-earth style and his fun and entertaining approach.
Chef Darling's motto: "Any home cook can think like a chef!"
Why Kickstarter? Why Now?
Chef Darling financed a pilot version of the show himself. PBS loved it and wants to launch the series this Fall! We are turning to the Kickstarter community for $50,000 to cover the production costs for the first 13 episodes.
“We’re launching this crowd-funding campaign to raise funds for our premiere season, consisting of 13 episodes. PBS doesn’t pay us to produce the show, it’s up to us to raise the money and make that happen!” -- Chef Darling
The show is inspired by wine country and ranch living. Keeping it in the family and community, Chef Darling lives on a ranch in Marin County, Northern California, and is surrounded by horses, pygmy goats, chickens, cats and dogs and his life partner, Ellen.
An award-winning production team from New York, Hexane Productions, is set to film and edit all 13 episodes set in Marin, Napa and Sonoma counties during July and August.
We have a great team in place, so we know we can produce the shows in time to satisfy PBS! But if we don’t raise the money on Kickstarter for production, we will lose this opportunity to get the show on PBS.
We need your help so we can finish our project and make our dream a reality! We know that this is just the beginning! Check out the great pledge levels on the right and check back on this page for new and exciting updates!
Sincere and Heartfelt Thank You!
How the money will be spent
The Kickstarter campaign is set to $50,000. Once you take into account 5% Kickstarter fee and 3% payment processing fee we are left with $46,000 which will be used for the following:
Risks and challenges
The only potential risk is if we don’t reach our goal of $50,000 to cover our production costs by the end of July, we may miss out on the window of opportunity for filming and editing in August so that the show will air on PBS in 2014. We’re hoping that we are able to meet our deadline to launch the series this Fall.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
