Update #14

Book Proofs Arrived — Books are Getting Closer!

Hello Everyone,

Yes... we are almost there. We received the book proofs from the printer on Friday and approved them.  The books are getting closer. They will be in our hands at the end of this month.

We are sending you a survey to collect your shipping addresses and contact information. If you would like to pick up your book in person — either at our book release party or at another convenient time — please indicate this preference in the survey.

For those that can make it to our neck of the woods (Accord, NY 12404) you are invited to the Foraging & Feasting book release party in July; date and time to be announced. Come celebrate and sip herbal beverages and nibble wild tasting as we present you with your first edition signed copy of the book.

As promised, we are sending our kickstarter backers signed copies of Foraging & Feasting. We are not inscribing personal dedications as we have learned this makes your books less valuable. However, we can make exceptions if a dedication is meaningful to you. Please send us an email with the name of the person the book shall be dedicated too. If you come to our book release party, we will be happy to include a dedication then!

Help us distribute Foraging & Feasting. We plan to circulate our book in a different manner. We would like to sell directly to independently owned bookstores and other shops and bypass the "regular" distribution channels. We hope to prevent Amazon and other large on-line booksellers from cornering the market by underselling everyone else. We envision people shopping at their local stores and buying our book from real people, in real time, in a real neighborhood. By supporting independently owned shops, we can assist in revitalizing local towns while helping redistribute the wealth into the hands of many.

Please help us bring Foraging & Feasting into your local neighborhood. Send us names and contact info of bookstores, natural food stores, herb shop, etc. who might like to carry our book. Included with your book will be a flyer that you can bring to your local stores to help them place an order.

As always, our book and other products are available for sale on our website.

The Lewis Ginter Botantical Garden here in Richmond, VA would be a good place to sell your book. They have a garden shop, as well as a library for use by their members.

Also, there are several independent book stores in Richmond - my personal fave is Fountain Bookstore (http://www.fountainbookstore.com/). They LOVE to do in-person author events!

I hate to break the chain of "this bookstore might like to sell your book", but I'd just like to say, wow, I don't know where you two are in this picture, but it's SO beautiful! So green. It looks like the perfect place the just lay down and relax. :)

It's also great to hear the news about the accepted book proofs. I'm really looking forward to my copy. ^_^

Brookside Gardens in Montgomery County, MD, has a school of botanical art and illustration, and sometimes offers foraging workshops! It is a very beautiful and well-run garden with loads of visitors and a fabulous little gift shop. I'm sure the Master Gardeners Library and gardening clubs that meet there would bring plenty of interested people your way! http://www.montgomeryparks.org/brookside/

They will have a display at the American Community Gardening Association Meetings here in Seattle in August.

I am really excited about receiving my copies!
