This is Anya, Aaron, Stig and Jed and we are from Asheville, NC. We play "Appalachiacana" music -- original Americana rooted in bluegrass and old time. We launched our website in February (www.tellicoband.com), and after a busy first year we are ready to get the music to you, on the airwaves, and out to the world! We have an album written and ready to be captured. Can you help us make it happen?
Late last year, former members of the Asheville bluegrass bands Dehlia Low (Anya Hinkle, Aaron Ballance and Stig Stiglets) and Town Mountain (Jed Willis) played a wedding together. The combination of so much history together and the excitement of a new project was so compelling that we decided to form Tellico. 2014 has been a tremendous first year for us. We are happy to have already played some great stages across the state, as well as our favorite local venues, house concerts, weddings, and private events. We plan to expand our calendar for 2015 but need to make an album to make next year the best it can be!
The songs that will be on the album reflect what we see, hear, and feel going on around us in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains here in western North Carolina. They capture love, disaster, cheatin', loss, busking, dreams, change. They are the themes that resonate in our lives but are universal as we grow and change, are lost and then found, in this strange and wonderful world we call home. The blend of Anya and Stig's committed, authentic vocals with Aaron's flowing and soaring dobro and Jed's textured and expressive mandolin bring to the songs their foundation, rooted in the mountain music we grew up with, but taken to somewhere unique. In addition to the music in the video, here are a few of the tunes that will be on the album:

BACK OUR FIRST ALBUM!
By becoming a backer for our upcoming album, not only do you get an autographed copy of the disk mailed right to your door, but also other perks only available to backers, like personal thank-yous, limited edition hats, shirts, crafts and stickers, demos and pre-release tracks, photos from the studio and project updates. Most importantly though, you join us in the process creating this album. It's a big world but it becomes smaller when we connect with each other. And more fun.
WHY GIVE, YOU SAY:
By funding this project through our friends, family, and fans, we do so much more than just make a record, we actually create something together. As a backer, you have a sense of involvement in the creation of a work of art, which starts at the time of the pledge and continues, really, indefinitely. You will always be our backer. When you give, we hear this: the backer (YOU) believes in us and appreciates our energy and creativity and talents. The value of that investment FAR outweighs the monetary generosity of your pledge.
We want to bring you closer to what we are doing, keeping you updated with how the fundraising, recording, and album release are going, and with any other incidental joyful mayhem, random creativity and good times. This is the good stuff, we dig it, you will too, thanks for joining us!
What happens if we reach our goal? We will be so grateful! If we raise more than our base budget of $7,500 we will have a lot more options for recording, publicity and distribution of the album, translating to an even more successful album and release. If you haven't had a chance to become a backer yet, we could still really use your help in reaching our stretch goals! $8,500 would give us more than the absolute miminum of studio time for recording the album. $10.000 would allow us to pay our publicist for an extra month, which translates into more airplay and reviews, helping to grow our fan base and get better bookings. $12,000 would allow us to hire a producer to help us get the songs ready and be with us in the studio to listen and guide the project. $14,000 would allow us to attend a music conference to showcase the new album next year.
HOW IT WORKS:
Backing a kickstarter project is just like buying things through Amazon. Browse the backer levels to your right and when you find the right reward for you, click the green "back this project" button on the top right of this screen. You will be taken to the next page where you can enter your pledge amount and select the reward you want. (These amounts can be different, for example, if you'd like to pledge $100 but just want the $25 reward). Then the familiar checkout process and...you're done!
NOTICE THE WORD "PLEDGE" --
Your credit card is NOT charged unless we raise the full amount! That's right, we don't get ANY of the money unless we reach our funding goal. We are confident in our fans, friends and family to make this album a reality, but that is why we need you to pledge right now!! Questions? Click here to watch a 1-minute tutorial on pledging, managing your pledge, and other backer FAQs. Or just send us an email at email@example.com! And THANK YOU!

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT TELLICO!
- "Tellico's music is easy enough to understand at first: acoustic music rooted in Appalachian traditions that is memorable and well played, with a female lead singer whose voice is as dreamy and sad as it is soulful and sweet. But there's so much more to it than that, and uncovering all the layers of what makes Tellico special can become a kind of captivating mystery story. Here you have members of bands Dehlia Low and Town Mountain making music that is both true to their roots but unique and fresh. It's music that can appeal to die-hard old-time, bluegrass, ragtime and blues fans while bending the ears of folks who never liked songs that even came close to a pair of overalls. Front and center is the voice of Anya Hinkle, who reminds me of Billie Holiday in a Carter Family setting; she seals the deal. I'm very much looking forward to hearing their first album."
-- Joe Kendrick, midday music host at WNCW 88.7 FM & Producer of the Lingua Musica Show, an independent music video performance and interview series
- "Delivering an authentic Appalachian string band sound aesthetic with modern but timeless lyrics, Tellico defines Asheville Americana. These musicians will touch your heart and mind with their cabin porch informed vocals and tasteful instrumentation….every song’s a “keeper”.
-- Davis Tracy, WDCV FM Carlisle, PA & Bluegrass@Dickenson
- "it strikes a chord in me...it sends chills up my spine.”
-- "Hippie" Jack Stoddart, Jammin' at Hippie Jack's Americana Festival and Council for Americana Roots Music
- "I knew from the first moment I heard Anya sing that I had found the voice I craved to hear once again--a voice that is both unique yet beautiful, with a truly authentic quality. I can't wait to review the forthcoming Tellico release.”
