Lemonade and Lasers will be an art installation/public space -- an 8'x8' canopied floating platform at the floating festival Ephemerisle 2012, June 6-10 on the Sacramento River Delta.
Flotation will be provided by large plastic boxes. Frame and railings will be made of 2x4s, with a plywood deck. PVC pipe arches covered in fabric will create the canopy on top. We plan to project lasers and visuals onto the canopy at night, while the deck will be a (free) lemonade stand and general public space, as well as hosting special events during the festival.
We're looking for funds to cover supplies and transportation. After the festival, we'll be able to disassemble the platform and store it for future events. We're planning to sink some of our own funds into this project as well, but community funding would really help. Depending on how much money we raise, we'll be able to build a platform and maybe even add on some exciting bonus features:
- $1000 - Floating platform: This will allow us to produce a basic canopied floating platform featuring a lemonade stand and nighttime visuals.
- $1400 - Laser art: This will allow us to create a unique laser diffraction art piece that projects onto the canopy, using lasers at 405 nm (purple), 445 nm (blue), and 532 nm (green) wavelengths.
- $1800 - Underwater LEDs: This will allow us to fund an Arduino-controlled interactive multicolor underwater LED art project around the edges of the platform. The lights will generate patterns based on tilt and motion sensors, so that they visualize the action of waves and people in real time.
Help us make this year's Ephemerisle the floatiest floating festival you've ever seen, with more art, more land, more lemonade, and more lasers than ever before.
As always, nautical by nature,
Lemonade and Lasers
