About

Over the last couple of years there has been a tremendous outpouring of new board games and card games showcased on Kickstarter. While many have been tremendously fun to play, they have have also been rather complex. With that in mind we set out to make a game that was unique, fun to play, and that was suitable for younger kids.

What makes Emohbi unique is the variability of the game set-up and that with each turn you have to decide the best path to take.

We have made several prototypes and passed them out to friends, family, and people we don't know for feedback.  What we've received in response has been overwhelmingly positive.

So please back this project today, so we can bring Emohbi to life!!

******************************************************************************

Created with elements of classic board games you loved as a kid, Emohbi is a patent pending roll and move game with an added dimension and unexpected twists and turns. Emohbi is engaging and interactive, where players climb ladders while avoiding waterfalls in the hopes of being the first to the top of the island.

If your turn ends at the base of a ladder, you go up the ladder to the level above. If it ends on a waterfall, you slide down the waterfall to the level below. The game can be adjusted so ladders lead to other ladders or waterfalls lead to other waterfalls. There are thousands of possible configurations.

There are also "Draw A Card" spaces where if a player lands on one they draw a card and take action, they may even get to rotate a level, completely disrupting the game or setting themself up for a quick run to the top.

With each roll of the die you choose the path to take. Moving left may lead you to a ladder while moving right may lead you to a "Draw A Card" space. You have to decide which is better.

Once the game is assembled the smaller levels will fit in the larger levels so everything fits neatly in the box. There is no need to take it apart.

Game play is typically 8 to 15 minutes, is easy to learn, and is great for the whole family.

Some say Emohbi, or “Keeper of the Island” created the mountain in order to keep a kind and watchful eye on all the animals and people below. Born from an undersea volcano millions of years ago, the island over which Emohbi keeps watch now hosts many happy villagers and is teeming with all sorts of interesting creatures and wildlife. At the changing of the seasons each village on the island selects one special person to compete in a race to the top of the mountain in order to please the spirit of Emohbi. The journey to the top is filled with surprises; some good, and some bad. As a player in the game of Emohbi, your task is to bring victory and joy to your village by being the first player to reach the top.

The playing board for Emohbi must be assembled prior to first use but once assembled, it does not need to be disassembled in order to fit back into the box.

Before each game, the tiers must be stacked onto one another. Depending on the age and skill level of the players, the game board may be configured accordingly. For instance, while playing with younger players, ladders can be purposefully aligned while avoiding waterfall alignment.

The object of the game is to be the first player to reach the top of the mountain by scaling the final steps to the top of the Emohbi figure. Climbing up the rope ladders while avoiding waterfalls or other pitfalls along the way.

On each player's turn they roll a die and move their pawn in either direction along the rocks in the path.  Landing exactly at the bottom of a ladder allows the player to climb up the ladder, where-as landing exactly at the top of a waterfall forces the player to fall down a tier or tiers.

There are special "Draw A Card" spaces along the way which can change the whole dynamic of the game; with instructions such as "Rotate top tier" or "Go to the nearest ladder."

When you are done, the game fits neatly back in the box.

Should we reach our baseline funding goal, we will transform the game from the pre-production version shown to a production quality board game through the implementation of professionally produced vibrant graphics.

$15K - Upgrade the game box weight, apply a 4-color print process directly onto game box, top and bottom.

$20K - Upgrade the pawns to wooden "meeples", further automate production, FREE USA GROUND SHIPPING ($9 savings) for all eligible pledges.

Risks and challenges

All projects have some level of risk, and ours is no different. In an effort to reduce the overall cost of production (and ultimately lower our funding goal) we have chosen the same manufacturing processes that we used for pre-production. While this approach is proven and allows us to reduce our tooling costs, the price per game is higher than if we were to use other manufacturing processes.

Our turnaround for delivery is expected to be 60 days after the campaign ends. We do not expect delays, but anything can happen. We rely on our suppliers just as you rely on us, and hope for a relationship of mutual understanding.

Our team comprises of two engineers with many years of manufacturing, sales and marketing, order fulfillment, and product design/development. We have recently teamed up with an experienced graphic designer with prior successful Kickstarter projects who will be leading our graphical design improvements. We anticipate this experience to be crucial in delivering a quality product within the time-frame promised.
