Regarding your love for wooden boxes...
Hi everyone, Randy here.
I must say, we were absolutely stunned & humbled (or stumbled, if you will) that our premium hand-made boxes sold out in 7 hours. Recovering from the shock, I've taken a serious look at my woodpile to see if I could reasonably make more to satisfy the many commenters I've heard from across various websites this evening.
Here's the situation, full disclosure. I have enough cherry on-hand to make the first 10 that have already sold. The costs of the first round of boxes covered the ash, the hardware, the finish, the felt, the silkscreening, and some of the time it will take to make these correctly. And of course, some of the money goes to help reach our goal of printing board games.
So to offer more boxes, I'd have to invest in more cherry, and certainly more time. For those of you who don't know us personally, my wife and I are expecting our first child in November, so my time is fast becoming a limited resource.
And as much as I'd love to spend an infinite number of weekends in my dad's workshop in St. Louis building nice things for you, (and I promise, i really would love that), I have to be at least somewhat realistic.
That said, I'm looking into the possibility of listing a second, absolutely final lot of hand-made boxes, made to the same specifications as the first round. However, I'd have to ask for a higher pledge amount to account for the unprecedented demand, as well as the added costs of production.
And to those who've expressed an interest in the Premium Box, please, I urge you to pledge anyway, knowing that that you can always upgrade your pledge should I make more boxes available. Also, I promise that even in a cardboard box, the game is still quite enjoyable.
Thanks for reading. Thanks for pledging. Thanks for being the wonderful people you are for taking an interest in us.
