GREG LOVES A HUMAN is a short horror comedy being produced this October in Illinois.
It's the story of Greg and Jeff, two best friends and demons that are sent to the surface to carry out a mysterious job. Jeff's all about the job, and Greg's all about some girl... And let's just leave it at that. (Who needs spoilers, anyway?!) The film is a blend of all sorts of things, combining 80's horror aesthetics with modern comedy. It's a little bit funny, a little bit creepy and a little bit sad. It's a story that we're very excited to tell.
This kickstarter is to raise money for principal photography of the film, which is shooting in late October. Specifically, the money will go towards feeding and transporting the cast and crew, props and makeup effects, and some rented equipment. (lighting, microphones, etc.) We've secured filming locations that will provide the perfect backdrop to set the eerie, Halloween influenced mood of the story and we have gathered a crew that we couldn't be more happy to work with.
WRITER/DIRECTOR - MICHAEL POTTLE
Michael is a writer & director, currently hiding in North Hollywood. Originally from the Chicagoland area, he received his BA in Film/Video from Columbia College Chicago. His college days were spent collaborating on short films, crafting his writing, and directing music videos and live concerts. In 2013, Michael founded Poolside AV, a specialty label for independent, DIY music and films. Post-graduation, he moved to Los Angeles and was taken under the wing of an independent film director. He continues to write and direct his own projects, and is working towards features.
He also hates writing bios.
PRODUCER - ZACH LYNDE
When Zach was in the second grade, his teacher gave him a choice: Write a book report, or shoot a video about the book. He took the easy way out and shot the movie. With a borrowed camera and no idea what he was doing, he found a way to tell that story.
Now Zach works as an independent producer in Rockford, IL where he collaborates with other talented artists and filmmakers.
COMPOSER - RYAN CALDWELL
Composer Ryan Caldwell specializes in versatility and oddity. Frequently referred to as a musical jack of all trades, he is not afraid to cross boundaries of style and instrumentation by experimenting with old sounds in new context and new sounds in old contexts. Currently Ryan is operating his studio out of a century old barn in the outskirts of the Chicago suburbs. Aside from composing he also plays in a progressive indie rock band called Fight with Monsters.
Risks and challenges
Any film production is a challenge. There will always be unpredictable elements, unexpected problems and surprising solutions. Michael and Zach both come from a DIY upbringing and thrive on overcoming the hurdles of production. On one of their last productions, they spent an 8 hour day shooting outdoors in a hail storm. We have worked hard to create an ideal shooting environment with secure, flexible locations and a crew that we feel comfortable and confident with.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
