Ballz Pancake Balls - Get a pair! (Canceled)
Help Ballz come to a grocery store near you. Ballz are a fun, flavorful pancake ball. If you like pancakes you'll love Ballz.
This campaign is about more than just bringing a product to market. It's about fulfilling a dream. It's about being bold enough to dream big and doing what's necessary to make that happen, no matter what anyone says. The name itself, Ballz, embodies this bold spirit.
Just as the idea for Ballz was born out of a bold spirit, so is Ballz mission, which is to bring food products to market which put a smile on people's faces, young and old alike. It is our hope that Ballz will bring a little fun to having breakfast, lunch, dinner...or dessert for that matter. Ballz are good any time.
It's not just about business for Ballz. Ballz feels very strongly about making a positive impact in the world and giving back. Ballz inaugural event to the public was at a Charity Function for the Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. This commitment of giving is why Ballz has planned to give a portion of profits (at least 5%) to charity, once the product is brought to market. Two of the most pressing issues facing children today are bullying and food insecurity. Ballz will seek to contribute to organizations confronting both of these issues.
With your help, we can do this together.
The funds raised in this campaign will be used to insure that Ballz come to grocery store near you and give back to the communities they are in. In order to do this a lot of things are needed, including but not limited to:
Backer Rewards: $25,000. The estimated costs of fulfilling the Backer Rewards once the funds have been raised. The most important of all of the expenses.
Kickstarter Fees $5790. The fees Kickstarter charges to raise money.
Attorney’s Fees $2950. The brand needs a trademark attorney to finalize some issues. I filed myself (to save money) and made some mistakes. An attorney is needed to correct these mistakes. Consultation is also needed for creation of the business entity and assessing possible liability and risks.
Package Design $3755. These funds will be used to design packaging which will be on display in grocery stores.
Web Design $1475. These funds will be used to establish our online presence.
Product Development $2495. The recipe we have is for smaller batches. To make quantities to distribute nationally, the recipe will need to be tweaked and adjusted. This process costs money.
Broker’s Fees $18,000. A food broker has contacts and relationships with national chains and other retail outlets increasing the odds that the product will come to a grocery store near you.
Trade Show/Store Sampling $3,125. With any new product, sampling at stores helps introduce the product to the market.
Licensing $767. To distribute a product nationally, one has to be a certified manufacturer and wholesaler.
Insurance $1495. The cost of insurance includes that of production and for the wholesale of the product.
Once this campaign has been funded, I will first fulfill the Backer Rewards. After that we will work on: 1. Getting the recipe finalized for large scale production 2. Package Design completed for retail stores 3. Licensing completed 4. Develop web presence 5. Secure Food Broker 6. Trade Shows – Being showcasing the product to vendors for commercial sale 7. Food Sampling at grocery stores 8. Many more things...too many to count.

Risks and challenges
One of the biggest challenges is manufacturing and distribution. Being that Ballz is contracting with a manufacturer, it is essential we find one who has the capacity to grow as the brand grows. Along with this, distribution is key. Distribution can decrease margins dramatically. This could be an obstacle. But we feel very confident that we have found solutions to grow the brand and keep distribution costs contained where the margins will allow for a healthy profit to expand and grow.
Another challenge will be adapting to dietary changes. That is why a GLUTEN FREE OPTION IS IN THE WORKS!
