The final stretch!

Hello all you lovely people,

Wow - crazy couple of weeks, sorry for the radio silence, have been absolutely slammed, as I am sure you can imagine!

Aside from the manufacturing, one of the big extra tasks was to consolidate orders across from Kickstarter, the Backer Store and our main web store to make sure everything is posted out in one package. This might sound easy, but when you have over 15,000 line items to fulfil for the greatest group of Kickstarter backers ever, it starts to get a little mad. Add into that address and choice changes and you start to really, REALLY enjoy a good excel formula. Array formulas float my boat at the moment!

A word of caution for anyone thinking of doing their own Kickstarter project - don't offer too many different colour options! It becomes very complex to manage surprisingly quickly.

With the exception of the machined fronts (which are under continuous manufacture), all our components have now been finished or are very close to being finished. The bulk of the assembly will be done over the next week, with any of the remainder being carried out in the week after. By mid week (excepting any assembly disasters) we should be getting daily shipments of assembled MiniDrives to our UK based logistics and fulfilment firm, who will start posting out to backers as soon as they arrive in their warehouses.

The PCBs have been signed off on:

The pad printing is all ready to go:

The PCB's fit in the MiniDrive bodies according to the correct tolerances:

And we have finally got the anodisation to the colours we are happy with:

As soon as we have pictures of fully assembled MiniDrives we will post you guys an update of that too :-)

Not long to go now!!

Piers & Steve

So will we see these before Christmas? I think a lot of us were banking on them being in for the holidays.

    6. Chris Carver on December 3, 2012

And why in the world would we do that? Can, sure. Will? No.

Happy to see the big fat No being given to people who want to again change their orders. If you had the money to impulse upgrade your computer you can afford an extra minidrive.

Also, I'm even happier to see that Green finally looks like green. Looking forward to adding a little more colour to my MacBOok :D

Great update, thanks for keeping us posted.

I can answer the question about changing your order to the Retina Macbook Pro. No.
I asked, was told outright no. They already started production. You are stuck with the drive for the old Macbook Pro/Air.

Great! Also +1 on the question by Jesse Stay as I have just got the 15" Retina Macbook Pro. I know it is over the dateline that you gave earlier but any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Great update! And yeah colour combinations are a hassle to manage :) at we have about 12 different combinations in 8 different sizes :)

Is there any way to change our order to another type of Mac? I just got the 15" Retina Macbook Pro and don't own my Macbook Air any more.

will we see these before Christmas?

      @_@ that Green!!!
cant wait - not a fan of radio silence - but it is what it is... may i make 1 solid piece of advice, take care of your kickstarter folks before you go taking care of everyone seein these folks funded your venture... --just saying as a business person this makes sense--

Thanks for the update, dudes. I can't even begin to imagine what you all have been through with this project. I just got my Bug-A-Salt weapons the other day from another site like this. They had to go through much of the same kinds of things you all did. I'm a big fan of KickStarter and these types of sites and wish you all continued success as this project nears completion. I'll probably order a bunch more after they get to market - keep it up, the finish line must be in sight!
