Famous and Losers
A novel about a broke, wannabe writer, just like me. A novel about journeys, classic rock music and the road.
Famous and Losers is a novel that I first started writing a couple of months ago, for an assignment in my University. I currently study at the University of Surrey, in Guildford, doing my MA in Creative Writing. This novel is about Jack Young, a man in his early twenties who decided to give up on his studies and try his luck on writing. He has no more connections with his family because of that and no publisher will accept his work. He is a miserable and misanthropist kind of guy, but smart. When he discovers that there is nothing left for him in Los Angeles he decides to leave and go to New Orleans. There, he'll meet Solomon, a black guy in his early sixties, owner of a jazz bar, who will shape his life forever.
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge for me is the fact that I've come in London to study with no one to back me up. My parents only send me 220 euros per month, which as you can imagine is nothing for London. So now, I have to work very much, going to the University and also making assignments for the university, all that while living in the constant anxiety of the low budget. Many times actually I can't attend my classes, because the ticket to Guildford and back is 20 pounds. I truly want to finish my novel this year and the only realistic way for this to happen if I'm more confident with my money. My program director loved the first couple of chapters and upon request I can share it. I'd really appreciate every little bit from your hard-earned money. Thank you very much and enjoy your life.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
