The idea for a sweat-proof dress shirt first came to David during a transitional point in his life, after his move from New York to Florida. Without being previously accustomed to the heat and humidity of the South, his profuse sweating became a pressing issue that he couldn't seem to resolve. After countless months of trial and error from appointments with dermatologists, to spending hundreds of dollars on expensive shirts, the stains became inevitable. He seemed to sweat through every dress shirt he wore - whether it was walking into work or just simply a nice evening out with some friends. The more frustrated David grew with this problem, the more he realized he wasn't alone.
We’ve all experienced it—whether it be the result of climate, anxiety or simply running late—we’ve all perspired through a shirt. It’s a common embarrassment, and one that need not count against us, when appearances matter most.
With this idea in hand, David approached his lifetime friend, Jacob Boyer, where the two worked while attending school at the University of Central Florida self-funding this vision and seeking the answer to the sweat issue.
And thus DAVID HYDE APPAREL was created- A clothing line that not only protects it's users from this issue but also does so in a fashionable way.
David Hyde Apparel's performance is the result of two factorial components in each of our products. On the outside of our clothing, we treat a light-weight, luxurious cotton blend with an Eco-friendly Hydrophobic Solution that repels of ALL water, oil, and protein based liquids. This solution is conducted with "Green-Chemistry" here in the United States and is not only organic, but PFC & PFOA-Free, passing all issued third-party toxicology testing. We also use a silver alternative in our solution for bacterial breakdown allowing our products to be odor-free. This alternative is not only healthier to the touch, but also clean to the environment.
The inside consists of our patent-pending patch design that draws moisture from the body to dry at a 2.5x faster rate than normal cotton. These patches consist of a moisture-wicking fabric that is both breathable as well as elastic for a proficient range of motion. They are then placed along the inner-lining of each of our shirts where you are prone to sweat the most. The usage of double sided fabric not only allows for the outer layer's appearance to remain unaltered, but also allows for the relief of moisture in comparison to similar, reflective products where the moisture sits unpleasantly on the skin throughout the day eventually showing through.
Because of our patch design, many ask if weight becomes a factor to our products- and the answer is NO. Through trial and error with over 10 prototypes and 1,000+ fabrics tested, we have successfully found a blend that can both uphold our performance standards as well as deliver a competitive, light-weight feel when worn. Our fabric suppliers are extremely educated on industry trends and strive to remain current with new technology allowing us to quickly adapt/upgrade our products with ease, if necessary.
All of our products will be made in the Los Angeles' Fashion District at our partner facility. Our manufacturer team has members that have been in the fashion industry for 30+ years who have worked diligently with us on the design ensuring prestigious quality alongside a modern look. They have worked with several reputable brands earning them global exposure and a significant identity in the fashion business.

-Once the Kickstarter is complete, we will contact all donors for color and size selection.
- What colors will be offered?
-Aqua Blue, Lavender, White
- Are the shirts machine washable?
-We recommend laundering, but the shirts are machine washable. We recommend ironing on low-medium heat, and to NOT use dryer sheets when drying.
- Does the shirt repel sauces like ketchup and mustard?
-Our shirt repel all water, oil, and protein based liquids. The shirt will be stained by sauces, but will wash away due to our "Stain Release" treatment.
Due to this being a "fundraiser" for production and development of our company, there will be no refunds issued for any of our pre-order purchased products. However, we will be more than happy to exchange any products received for different sizes or colors to ensure satisfaction with funding our project. For future business we plan for a refund and exchange policy to be implemented to provide consumers with comfortability when shopping David Hyde Apparel.
Risks and challenges
Production: Because of the unique design behind each of our products, the first cycle of production may be longer than future orders as our materials are sourced from several cities within the United States. The size of the first production run is estimated to yield 1,000 dress shirts which will take a month alone in shipment of raw materials as well as treatment of the fabric. Once everything has arrived at our production facility in Los Angeles, assembly of the shirts at the 1,000 ct. could take as long as two months. For transparency purposes, you will receive emails during the whole production process.
Product Performance: We have thoroughly tested each one of our shirts and deemed them capable of all of the performance factors we market them with. That being said, not only is there always room for improvement but always room for error as well. There may be certain stain scenarios that our shirts fail to overcome or you may sweat in areas that aren't included in our patch design- We get it. Part of our raised capital from our Kickstarter will be solely invested in further R&D for our sweat-proof technology. This is more than a product, its a solution.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
