New Customer Feedback
"I just took my first loaf of Wurzelbrot out of the oven and it is wonderful (and it looks great)! It tastes like fresh bread that I spent hours preparing. It was such an easy process!" - Karen L.
"I just baked the Brioche and WOW is it wonderful and again very easy. This would be a perfect breakfast bread served with jam! My next one on the list is your least favorite Hal (Don's brother), but we both like rosemary (Karen & her husband) and are looking forward to it." - Karen L.
You sense a difference long before you bake the bread. As you stir the ingredients, a wonderful aroma fills the bowl. You've discovered the miracle of sourdough!
"I promise that this is the easiest and best bread you will ever bake."Don Mills - Founder, Black Forest Breads
A supply chain and logistics management professional by trade, I began baking artisan bread as a hobby four years ago, and by trial and error I taught myself the basics. Eager to improve my knowledge and proficiency, I traveled to Germany to study the craft with the masters. While there, I acquired valuable baking skills, as I learned to create an assortment of breads, rolls and genuine German pretzels. Upon returning home, my hobby quickly grew into a passion and the following year, encouraged by my family and friends, I left corporate America and opened my own artisan bakery, selling my breads at farmers' markets, natural food stores and local restaurants.
Thirsting for more knowledge and wanting to advance my skills to a much higher level, I went back a second time and totally immersed myself in the bread culture, studying in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Along the way, I developed friendships with many bakers, millers and farmers, who shared their expertise and knowledge of the centuries old German bread culture with me.
Having acquired the know-how, I decided to share my passion with other bread lovers by developing authentic European bread mixes from some of the age-old recipes I’ve mastered. I’ve simplified the baking process so that anyone can make my breads at home, without any special equipment and with very little active preparation time.
To insure the highest level of quality, nutrition and flavor, all of my bread mixes are made with Organic German flour. I’ve contracted with a small, employee owned producer of organic flour, named Bauckhof, in business since 1969, which will be blending and packaging my bread mixes. I have finalized the recipes, the packaging designs are at the printer, and all I need to do now is place my first order for production.
In collaboration with Kickstarter and its members, Americans will for the first time, have the opportunity and personal satisfaction of baking nutritious and delicious organic breads from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and Italy in their own kitchens. Your pledges will help finance the cost of bringing the first container of bread mixes to the USA. The shipment will arrive at the Port of Houston in the beginning of December. The rewards will arrive at your doorstep by Christmas. What a wonderful and unique gift it will be. To all those who pledge, thank you in advance for your support.
- Shipping to US addresses is included with all rewards.
- International shipping is extra and depends on the destination address.
Below is the artwork I designed for the front of the bread mix boxes. I hope you like them.
Hi there. Just wondering if it's possible to back this and get multiple rewards? For example, can we back you with $80 and send you a message to let you know we'd like the $40 reward x 2? Some projects allow this and others don't, so just wanted to verify
Absolutely! Order as much as you want. I am all about customer satisfaction. I love introducing people to these great breads. That's what it's all about for me, not the money. If I break even and my customers (which will hopefully become my new friends) are delighted with my breads, then I have succeded. And, I assure you that you will fall in love with these breads. When I used to sell my breads at the Farmers' Markets in Oklahoma City, people would stand in line waiting for me to arrive, long before the market opened in the morning and I was usually late because I was pulling one more batch of fresh German pretzels out of the oven, that I would sell out of within the first hour. Great European bread is in a league that American bread cannot compete in, and German bread (when I say German, I also mean Swiss and Austrian, because they're very similiar) is in a league by itself. Let me know whatever I can do for you. Please spread the word. My mission is to put smiles on the faces of everyone that trys my breads.
God bless you,
