About the Film
Everything That Moves Is Moved By Others is an upcoming independent short film about someone without identity that lives everyday in the same day. But, a whisper under a moving rock will make him realize that anyone can give motion to everything else. As the beloved moves the lover of love, or the earth revolves around the sun by gravity. And so on, until you reach the sphere of fixed stars, that should also be moved by something. Because everything that moves, is moved by others. But if for some reason, the moving cause stops, all the movement will cease.
The short film has a surrealistic cinematic style, and is inspired by some premises of the New Age movement. The story picks up and plays with many philosophical ideas, such as those concerning reality, authenticity, determinism, free will and human potential.
Why We Need Your Help
The story has got a great start and now we need your help. Our goal is to achieve $16,000, that will allow us to film the second part of the short film and to fully fund it. We have been working on this project since January 2012, with a lot of research, creative thinking, sketching and writing. We decided to start shooting the first part of the short film in May, and we drove all the way to The Death Valley for a one-week shoot. Back In San Francisco, we edited the first 30 rolls that we filmed, and we made the first part of the short film. Now, The primary goal is to finish the story of Everything That Moves Is Moved By Others. We want to film the second part of the story, and try to do our best to make this short film memorable.
Where and How We Are Shooting
We are filming it with LomoKino a weird analog camera from Lomography, that shoots on any 35mm film. It will add a dreamy photographic texture. And we have filmed in Death Valley, CA. An exceptional place where you can find moving rocks in the middle of the desert. What? Did you say moving rocks? Yes, it is a geological phenomenon where rocks move in long tracks along the valley without human or animal intervention. Finding this place in our location research was amazing; it is the perfect setting for the concept of our film. Everything that moves, is moved by others.
Why We Are Making It
We are students and we always try to spend as little as possible. But this is our first “big production”. We are looking for funding because even a small budget is a huge budget when you try to film it with your personal budget. A friend told us about the crowd funding, a new way to fund creative projects which anyone can make a little donation and get a reward. So we thought - that idea is amazing - It is like the concept of our short film - Everything that moves, is moved by others - Lets do it!
