Thank you for your support! There's still so much we can accomplish. Please consider helping us reach our stretch goals! Here's the plan:
$14k PUBLICIST???: If we make it this far, we could hire a publicist, maximizing awareness by reaching out to media outlets, boosting viewership, and making the mission known- epilepsy MUST exist fairly on screen if we want our culture to accept it. Let's inspire other filmmakers to do the same!
Thank you for your help! Please share!
My name is Miles, I've had epilepsy since I was 5, and I'm a filmmaker. I've got a mission to use this film to make a difference, to represent a demographic that almost never appears on screen, and I need your help!

'Under the Lights' is the story of Sam, a boy with epilepsy so desperate to feel like a regular kid that he goes to prom knowing it will make him have a seizure.
Epilepsy affects and kills as many people as breast cancer, but it shares none of the same visibility. It almost never appears in film, and a brutal stigma keeps millions of people "in the closet" afraid to disclose their condition to their peers.
We have the support of the Epilepsy Foundation, an Emmy winning producer and a cast crew with a stunning body of work.
There is a long history of people with epilepsy losing their jobs to stigma, being sidelined by the educational system, and even ostracized by family and friends.
We can do something about that. We want to make a heartfelt film that centers around the experience of having epilepsy, and what it feels like to be different. Then we want to get on stage at film festivals and talk to audiences about epilepsy, sending massive groups of people home with an empathetic point of reference.
We need your help! Here's where your generous funding goes:
We can't do this without you.
Risks and challenges
Every film has risks and challenges. We've been doing preproduction for the better part of a year, and we've got our challenges well prepared for.
Construction: We have chosen to build our set. This allows us to light the film very meticulously up to a month in advance, saving us precious shooting time, and allowing us far more takes per shot.
Rewards: You may notice that our rewards are set for delivery a ways out. This is because we want to send the film to festivals that have premiere status requirements (Never been seen before!) before we get the film to you. Luckily, most festivals do not have such requirements for short films, so once we are passed the deadlines for such events, we will be sending you your links and discs! We hope to deliver the other rewards sooner if possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
