The Hendrix Keg - Carbonated, Fresh, Craft Beer on Tap (Canceled)
A premium keg that works like a growler but keeps your craft beer fresh using an adjustable CO2 regulator
The craft beer industry is growing and the beer variety has never been better. However most of that brew is only available to take with you in a growler. But once you hand over your hard earned cash to purchase that growler it becomes a race against the clock. Soon that amazing brew will lose flavor and carbonation. We set out to solve that problem and the result is the Hendrix Keg. It’s designed to use like a growler and operate like a keg. Throughout the prototyping process we demanded the Hendrix Keg’s quality and craftsmanship match that of professional brewing equipment and it does. This is true American engineering.
We have spent a lot of time and effort making this keg: designing, prototyping, testing, engineering, and purchasing production molding. The Hendrix Kegs you see here have been built with the same parts and molds we will use in our production run, so it’s ready for production and we are ready to put it into your hands. Once our campaign has been successfully funded we will be able to order the parts in large quantities, assemble the kegs, and ship them to craft beer lovers everywhere.
We have launched this Kickstarter campaign to meet the people who share our passion for beer and start making kegs for them. So check out our rewards, support the project, and tell your friends about the Hendrix Keg!
Technology Built for Your Lifestyle
Built to the Demanding Standards Required by Professional Beer Geeks
Innovative Design Puts You in Control of the Pressure
It's music to a beer drinker's ears to hear the pop of a bottle cap releasing CO2. Beer needs CO2 to stay fresh and carbonated and different beer styles require different levels of carbonation. Stouts have low CO2 levels around 6 psi while wheats will run around 12 psi. That is why the Hendrix Keg has an adjustable regulator. Not only does this allow you to keep the correct CO2 level for your beer, it also gives you flexibility when pouring. Need more foam, turn up the pressure, need less foam, turn it down.
The Hendrix Keg uses unthreaded 8 gram food grade CO2 cartridges. These are widely available online and in retail shops and prices range from 34-50 cents each depending on how many you buy. The Hendrix Keg uses 1 cartridge per keg fill. Your Hendrix Keg will ship with 2 cartridges to get you started enjoying your favorite brew right away.
Thinking Outside the Box to Solve Problems
We designed the growler transfer unit to easily transfer beer from a growler to your Hendrix Keg. It could be a growler of conditioned home brew or a growler from an out of town brewery that your friend brought you. It also allows you to purchase growlers locally before your keg is empty. Just follow the procedure and you'll be able to keep that growler beer fresh without any mess.
Production Time Line
To Our Kickstarter Backers,
We are serious about providing the highest quality kegs possible and serving our customers. That is how this project will succeed. We have come to Kickstarter to find a community of people that like this idea and will support it. We are not here to waste your time or money. That is why we have set our goal high. We need these numbers to prove the idea is solid, move this project into production, and deliver to you what we promise.
The above picture shows the finished parts of the keg and past iterations we have gone through to get a finished product. The finished parts have been made with the same methods we will use in the production run. We have already built the production molds and made the parts. We have utilized 3D printing solely for only 3 parts of the keg up to now. They are the black cap, base, and cartridge housing and are only cosmetic parts that do not affect the function of the keg. These parts have been designed for manufacturing and are ready to go. We have 2 fully functional prototypes that work excellent. The Hendrix Keg is not just an idea, it's ready for production.
We have invested over $75,000 in cash and well over 1000 hours of labor to get to this point. We have built these prototypes to prove the viability of the design, solve the problems that arise during prototyping, and have the keg ready for production. We have taken the risk so you don’t have to. We sincerely ask for your support to push this project into production and in return we will give you an awesome Hendrix Keg.
Thank you for your support!!! Jake Hendrix and Rob Hendrix
Risks and challenges
With any project there are risks that can arise unexpectedly. This is not a new project for us and we believe we have moved it far enough along and solved the product development problems. The kegs you see here have been built with production molded parts and tested in real environments. The timeline is based off our vendor's estimation of completing the parts. We communicate regularly with vendors and will adhere to strict quality control standards during production and assembly.
Our team has many years of business management and small business ownership experience. We have a team of consulting engineers to back us up on the technical side, so we are confident that we can deliver the Hendrix Keg to you.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
