Fear the Con is an annual tabletop gaming convention hosted by the roleplaying game podcast Fear the Boot. Over the years it has hosted Panels, Meet & Greets, performances by comedian Mikey Mason, game shows, and most importantly six gaming slots of 4 hours each spread over two days. Fear the Con needs you to become a reality this year. If you help us reach our goal the convention will happen and be open for everyone. No cost at the door for entrance. If we don't reach our goal Fear the Con 8 will not happen.
Fear the Con is a gaming experience like no other. It is a welcoming community open to gamers of all types. This year it's up to you to help make it happen.
For seven years it has been the gathering place for a community of gamers from around the world to come together for two days of gaming. This year will be the final Fear the Con in it's current incarnation and we want it to be the biggest and best con yet. With that in mind we have come to Kickstarter to fund the convention instead of selling individual tickets like we have in the past. We don't want any potential attendee to be left out because they can't afford the ticket.
What makes Fear the Con stand out compared to other conventions?
- Food orders taken and delivered to your table
- A strong focus on the actual gaming with very little distraction
- A variety of games being run with some GMs running a different system in every slot.
- A board game lending library
The goal for this kickstarter is what is required to run the convention itself based on previous years expenses. There are many features we would like to bring to the con that will only be accomplished by stretch goals.
- $10,000 World Wide Wing Night on Thursday before the convention. This is a social gathering with food provided.
- $11,000 TBA when previous goal is met
- $12,000 TBA when previous goal is met
Risks and challenges
Fear the Boot has hosted Fear the Con 7 years in a row. This is a well established process and there is very few challenges to come from organizing the convention itself. An unexpectedly high number of attendees or not meeting our goals are the only known risks to the project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
