We're taking our cause to the people! Our goal is to make a stand-alone sequel to our award-winning feature film DEAR GOD NO! and not loose any creative control. We love our script and this may be our last chance to shoot on 35mm, We have the stock and cameras but we need your help to finance what may be the last horror film shot on film! If you long to see something "wild as hell" and completely different in the horror genre, this is your film!
FRANKENSTEIN CREATED BIKERS centers around the re-animation of the South's most notorious biker gang, The Impalers. Dr. Marco and his assistant are performing gruesome experiments in their asylum lab and have resurrected the thrill-kill Motorcycle Club to capture a Bigfoot containing a pathogen that will allow them to perform a human head transplant. When news of the gang resurrection draws the attention of bounty hunters, law enforcement and rival gangs, the lofty aspirations of these mad scientist starts to spiral out of control. Things get even worse for the occupants when failed experiments escape from the basement and the lab is attacked by a bomb-happy femme fatale named Val.
Stylistically FRANKENSTEIN CREATED BIKERS pays homage to several of our favorite films like the Hammer Studio's Frankenstein series, FASTER PUSSYCAT KILL KILL, THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE, HORROR RISES FROM THE TOMB, THE RE-ANIMATOR, Biker flicks and Hicksploitation drive-in pictures from the 70s. There's buckets of blood, scares, nudity, action, weirdness and REAL explosions (requiring insurance!), but the real star of this script is an underlying theme about addiction. We're not talking drugs but EVERYTHING that chains us from feeling fulfilled in life. We explore this issue through the actions of really rotten characters doing really rotten things. All in the context of an entertaining FUN-filled smorgasbord, obviously.
Who are we?
We're the production team behind the Super 16mm feature film DEAR GOD NO! Basically a bunch of "awesome" fanatics who get together and make really cool art. Our crew has worked on THE WIRE, THE WALKING DEAD, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, YOUR PRETTY FACE IS GOING TO HELL, Adult Swim's TOO MANY COOKS and many more.
Our last film won the following awards:
WINNER: Best Exploitation Film (Arizona Underground Film Festival)
WINNER: Best Exploitation Film (Pollygrind 2011 - Las Vegas)
WINNER: Audience Award Best Feature Film (Pollygrind 2011)
WINNER: Audience Award Best Feature Film (Corpsedance 2011)
WINNER: Audience Award Best Feature Film (Zinema Zombiefest 2011)
WINNER: Best Body Count (Elvira's Horror Hunt 2012)
WINNER: Best Midnight Monster Movie (Elvira's Horror Hunt 2012)
We have a bunch of genre favorites attached. Including Laurence T. Harvey (HUMAN CENTIPEDE 2 & 3, THE EDITOR), Tristan Risk (AMERICAN MARY, ABC's of DEATH 2) and Ellie Church (TIME TO KILL, HEADLESS). Plus all your DEAR GOD NO! favorites like Jett Bryant, Madeline Brumby, Paul McComiskey, Billy Rat, Jim Sligh, Rachel Morgan, John Collins, Nick Morgan and more! Celebrity Chef Jim Stacy (DEEP FRIED MASTERS, OFF BEAT EATS) returns as Bigfoot!
That's right! We have enough Kodak Vision film abandoned from a Hollywood Studio Production to shoot a feature. We love the look of film and the sound of a film camera on set. You know those audiophiles that collect records? Well, we feel the same way about silver nitrate. 35mm cameras are just collecting dust in the rental houses and we're going to put them to use before they sell them for scrap! Our crew has worked with film the majority of their lives and it is probably our last hurrah with the medium - therefore we have to give "film" some serious respect and go out with a BANG!
Q: How can you shoot so cheaply on 35mm film? Why not shoot on digital?
A: Film is a beautiful craft but viewers have become conditioned not to notice the difference between the two formats. If you love old movies, then you have noticed that visually something is a little off these days. It’s like tasting Coca-Cola made with high fructose corn syrup for so long you forget how it tasted when it was made with sugar. The Zeiss 35mm lenses we have will really make for an impressive 35mm presentation and the film stock we have is some of the best Kodak was making. There are still film developers and telecine transfer equipment at our local post-production houses in Atlanta, Georgia.
Q: Why such a large budget for a horror film?
A: We really don't want to see a bunch of teenagers being stalked around a cabin again! FRANKENSTEIN CREATED BIKERS is ambitious. We’re using a ton of practical effects, make-up, explosions, sets, stunts, actors and locations to create the visual look of a larger budget film without sacrificing the subversive content. We made DEAR GOD NO! on Super 16mm film for $20K and our Kickstarter video cost us $1.40 (Jett’s morning Dr. Pepper). With a decent budget, we’ll achieve impressive results.
Q: What if you only meet the minimum goal?
A: If we can achieve the minimum, we’ll shoot all our action sequences involving the paid actors. Then we’ll finish the picture over the following weekends with our blood, sweat and tears. Life is short and this film must be made. It won’t hold up the rewards process.
Q: Will FRANKENSTEIN
CREATED BIKERS have a great score and soundtrack like DEAR GOD NO!
A: YES! We dislike the stock scores programs that our prevalent in movies today. Richard Davis will be returning as our composer and we’ll continue to employ all the talented musicians in our region. Especially Bryan Malone!
Q: What are the goals of BIG WORLD PICTURES after the film
A: With DEAR GOD NO!, we released the film theatrically in several cities and took it to film festivals and horror conventions. We then made it available to itunes and Amazon Prime. The foreign territories were sold by an agent to Germany, Great Britain, Australia, Kosovo and Thailand. We handled all the domestic distribution. We have assessed what worked and will expand on our knowledge to reach a larger international audience.
Q: How risky is it to invest?
A: We’ll deliver. You’re dealing directly with the filmmakers and not the distributors, agents, lawyers or Hollywood producers. Not only will you receive the great rewards, we want you to be proud of what we’re doing so you’ll invest in future projects. With us, it is all about the creative process and seeing our insane vision on the screen. You’ll be part of our team. We’re not asking for you to invest and go away. Even if you donate $5, we want to meet you at a screening in your town.
WE NEED YOU!
Please check out all our rewards. Nobody who creates low-budget projects ever sees a dime from the distributors so we're offering it all! We just want to make a baddass movie! The kind of film that we long to see. Our hope is with your funding we might be able to crack into full-time genre film production and deliver unique projects that don't involve found footage, demonic possession, flying sharks and serial killers! Either way, we really want to make this film!
Here is a clip we put together in the early development stage to convey to a foreign distributor the type of film we're making. They actually said, "Can you make it a cop action film?" Anyway, This was shot very quickly on digital but it will give you an idea of the bat-s*#t crazy film we're going to deliver. Don't worry, FRANKENSTEIN CREATED BIKERS isn't going to employ film scratches or any digital artifice.
We really hope you'll give us the opportunity to entertain and scare you. Thank you for reading all the way through our project. We can't wait to bring this amazing motion picture to life.
Risks and challenges
There may be completion delays in post-production but we'll do our best to stay on schedule. Our rewards have been timed to allow for the unexpected and we hope to actually deliver them sooner. We've completed a feature film through Kickstarter before and all our investors were VERY HAPPY. We'll keep you informed every step of the way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
