"There are only two people in art that matter. There's the creative individual and the person experiencing it. Everything else is an artificial filter. This is a way for me to share my work with you without any filters whatsoever." -Otis Gibbs
It's pretty simple really. I'm excited to be making my seventh record and I'd like you to be a part of it. You've always been there for me in the past by coming to shows, buying CDs, T-shirts and photographic prints, and I'm extremely grateful. The only thing different about this new record is I'm asking for your support on the front end.
For the last seven years or so, I've been fortunate to be able to feed my family by making records and touring throughout Europe and parts of the USA. I've done this with no ties to the music industry whatsoever. None of this would be possible without the support of folks like you. The good part about this is I don't have to answer to anyone except the listener. I make whatever records I want without any interference from industry types. The bad part is, we pay for everything out of pocket. Amy and I live simply and within our means, but an unexpected surgery wiped out the savings we had set aside for my next record. That's why we decided to start this campaign.
We'll be thankful for whatever we are able to raise here, but 20 grand is our goal. That will pay all of the expenses to make the record and still leave a modest promotional budget.
Things have been growing organically over the last few records thanks to heavy touring and you guys telling your friends about me and my music. However, some extra promotional dollars would make it a whole lot easier to get the word out. Anything above our goal of 20 grand will allow us a lot more flexibility with the promotional budget, a chance to re-press a couple of records and maybe even put out some vinyl.
We've tried our best to put together some packages that will fit everyone's budget. With your help, I'm confident that this will be my best record yet.
Thank ya kindly,

After making six indie records over the last twelve years, Amy and I have learned to live within our means and to not over extend ourselves. I'm also one of the more stubborn people you've ever met. You can rest assured that we'll have no problem completing this project on time and on budget.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
