Print League KC will be a community printshop allowing artists and art enthusiasts — yes you! — access to printmaking equipment, classes, and an open work space. Print League KC will be able to establish and provide an environment that nurtures creativity and collaborative growth in our community.
For members as well as the general public, we will offer a wide variety of printmaking and paper-related classes giving anyone the chance to learn a new skill or brush up on an old technique.
We currently have a fully functional letterpress facility with the goal of adding intaglio, relief, screen printing, and lithography equipment.
- Level I : 16hr Punch-Cards
- Level II : Monthly
- Level III : 3-Month
- Core : 6-Month with 24-hr access
Levels II and III are available through this campaign at an introductory rate!
This Campaign is a crowdfunding effort to expand our current offerings beyond letterpress printing. Our main goal will be the purchase of an Intaglio/Etching press. After securing the press, we'll acquire start-up supplies that include silk screen setups, inks, press blankets, etc.
Thanks to our early success, we can reach higher with a stretch goal.
If/when we crest $11,000, one enamel pin can be included for FREE in all pledge levels of $20 and higher.
Backers can choose either our new "Happy Brayer" pin or the "Hello" word bubble pin from Two Tone Press.
Our Current Equipment:
- Vandercook SP-15
- 10x15 Chandler & Price Platen Press
- 6 cabinets of type
- Guillotine Paper Cutter

For the curious... Where's all the money going?
Risks and challenges
Challenge #1: Physical Space
Print League KC is fortunate enough to be housed in a space owned by Founders, Michelle and Angie Dreher.
Challenge #2: Equipment
If the crowdfunding is successful, we will purchase a great majority of the pieces we need.
If we do not meet our goal, we will open Print League KC with the complete letterpress facility already in place thanks to our sponsor, Two Tone Press, and the journey to full fledged community printshop will just be a slightly longer road.
Challenge #3: Operating Costs
The largest challenge will be covering operating costs by establishing and maintaining memberships, as well as by filling workshops. Since Print League KC is a new endeavor, we've structured our overhead costs to be manageable within the bounds of the printshop's growth.
