This new retail truck will help us bring our gear directly to customers & fans (you guys!). We've already purchased the truck and with your help we're going to make this thing street ready! We considered several different options for the van's new look. A new paint job, stripping the paint to bare aluminum, and crazy graffiti mural. We decided to go with a vinyl wrap. This way the van would professional and eye-catching. So we started cleaning the exterior...
We have spent weeks removing the old stickers and dirt from the van's paint. This prep-work is necessary, so the new vinyl stickers will bond to the paint.
Here is a video of how a vinyl wrap works:
A full wrap (like the one in the youtube video) would cost around $5000. We aren't going that crazy. This van will have the Live Local Apparel logo on the sides and back door, about 5 ft in diameter, as well as QR codes here and there. It will be a mobile billboard, but it gets better. Inside the cab will be a bunch of mannequins modeling T shirts. The whole thing should look pretty crazy. Guerilla marketing in action.
After the wrap the van will be put in motion right away. Parking and re-parking it around the town, and moving it every 72 hours. You'll see it everywhere. It could become like a game, with people instagraming pictures of the van in different locations...
Think of all the cool local events that take place in San Luis Obispo County: classic car shows, marathons, concerts, art after dark, bike night, festivals, parties, plays, college events, fairs, etc. Now imagine being able to pick up a sweet T shirt or hoodie right at that event location!
There are 2 ways you can help!
1.) Back the project! We have some cool incentives for those of you who do (listed on the right side of the page, and seen above!).
2.) Spread the word! Share our story with friends and family - and on social media!
We can't wait to see y'all out on the road!
Risks and challenges
Obviously we need to wrap this van, but we also need to finalize permission (permits = $$$) with the City of San Luis Obispo so we can sell on the street (not just in private lots). Any money over the $2000 goal will first be used to pay the selling-permit fees. Fees could be as much as $1500 to sell in San Luis Obispo county (Pismo, Morro Bay, Avila, SLO, los osos, etc). Secondly, any extra money will go towards repaying the initial cost of the van (which was $2400). So keep funding even after the goal has been met.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
