We’ve reached 100% of our goal with 9 days to go. We are humbled and continuously amazed by the community that supports us. We cannot express the amount of gratitude we feel for you all.
Our vision and size will remain the same, but with further support from our community, Statera Cellars will be able to invest in the tools that will allow this business to be stronger. Much of the equipment that Statera uses throughout the winemaking process is borrowed and shared with fellow winemakers. With your continued support, we would be able to invest in owning some of this equipment.
Also, we want to continue to spread our message and love with more of you!
With that being said,
we have some stretch goals that we would love your help in achieving:
$13,000 - If we reach this stretch goal, we can purchase a settling tank. When the Chardonnay is pressed, it lives in a stainless steel settling tank for 24 hours, to let much of the gross solids produced in pressing, settle out. We use these tanks again at bottling. As it is, we borrow tanks to settle wines and before bottling. With our own tank, we are given more flexibility, and more independence which makes better wine.
$15,000 - If we reach this stretch goal, we can purchase a settling tank, a bulldog, and hoses. When moving wine from the barrel back into tank before bottling, a tool called a bulldog pup is used. It allows us to fill a barrel with pressure, using an inert gas, which then pushes wine from barrel to tank, without the use of a pump. This is the most gentle way to move wine out of barrel. Again, we are able to borrow and share this equipment with other winemakers, but owning it ourselves allows us more flexibility and independence. With your continued efforts, we can make Statera Cellars the best version of itself.
If we reach these goals, fantastic, if not, we will still be able to make gorgeous, compelling chardonnay.
Either way, we want to thank you all again. We will be harvesting fruit in just a few weeks, knowing that we have the support and confidence of all of you amazing people behind us. We love you and thank you! It's going to be an amazing year for Statera Cellars.
What We Do
Statera is the Latin word for balance, and our logo is the equilibrium symbol.
We established Statera Cellars with those two principles in mind. We are the first winery in the Willamette Valley to focus exclusively on Chardonnay.
In order to fill your wine glasses with local Chardonnay next year, we need to purchase three tons of premium Willamette-grown Chardonnay grapes this fall, and we need your help to do it. That's enough for 2,250 bottles of wine! The majority of our yearly expenses for Statera Cellars go toward paying our dedicated, hard-working farmers. High quality grapes are expensive, as they require meticulous work to farm. By supporting Statera Cellars, you are becoming a vital part of a growing local community that has a vested interest in natural wines.
Why We Do It
We all know that Oregon produces world-class Pinot Noir, but Statera Cellars is exploring what's next. We want to unearth Oregon's potential for world-class white wine too.
Most people assume that when they drink wine, they are enjoying something made entirely from grapes. However, the majority of wines produced in America are heavily processed, using many legal additives. When wine is made on an industrialized scale (The largest winery in the US produces some 246 billion bottles a year, more than the entire continent of Australia!), chemical additives and mechanized processes are heavily relied upon, which produce lifeless wines.
At Statera Cellars, we are passionate about combating the industry norm. Our mission is to naturally produce compelling Chardonnay using only neutral oak barrels, native yeast, temperature control and small quantities of sulfur - That's it. No additives, no fish bladders, no tricks. Statera wines are your alternative to the status quo and are markedly alive.
It's an exciting time at Statera Cellars: Our 2014 wines are nearing their release date and the fruit for the 2015 vintage is in the middle of its growing season and is looking mighty tasty. Harvest will be upon us soon, and our lives will be consumed by the work that goes into creating these wines.
A Bit About Us

Our rewards reflect our personalities with you in mind.
A one-of-a-kind hand etched vintage glass will only be available through Kickstarter. We've had a blast both curating this collection of glasses, and mastering the art of hand etching.
Likewise, we have collaborated with our friends at Bombsheller, by creating limited edition Bombsheller leggings. We encourage you to follow the link provided to check them out! There you'll be able to see each pattern on a hot robot model. When you choose this reward, you can pick your favorite color and size. You can also check out the patterns available here:
If experiences with winemakers are more your thing, here are some pictures from a recent outing we did which gives you an idea of how much fun they can be:
Thank you for supporting us and we look forward to sharing our progress and success with all of you!
