We're very pleased to announce a limited edition slipcase designed by TWO TONE PRESS! This will only be available from us directly and they are very limited. Don't miss your chance!
Four years ago Pacific Rim hit theaters and rekindled my childhood love of giant monsters. Shortly after that a giant monster anthology debuted on Kickstarter.
Thanks to the support of hundreds of giant monster fans Kaiju Rising: Age of Monsters exceeded the funding goal and brought big screen city smashing to your book shelf.
A lot has changed since then but my love of giant monsters has only grown, and I'm betting the same for you.
With the recent release of movies such as the new Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island, as well as the upcoming Pacific Rim sequel, now seems like a perfect time to continue the Age of Monsters.
Kaiju Rising: Age of Monsters has been a best selling anthology since it was published.
Now, we're back, and getting stompier than ever with our explosive sequel anthology: Kaiju Rising: Age of Monsters II...
Let's be upfront. The original publisher of Kaiju Rising: Age of Monsters had an extremely bumpy past with Kickstarters.
In an effort to keep it as simple as possible, we're running a very streamlined campaign:
No fancy stretch goals. No crazy add-ons. Just books.
We're not gonna bog down this campaign with lots of variables. We want to deliver a quality product, on time, on budget, and exceed expectations.
This book will be over 500 pages of giant, stompy, city-wrecking monster fun!
We have a limited selection of add-ons. If you are getting a physical item already, you can add on the following!
- Kaiju Rising II Trade Paperback: +$20 USD
- Kaiju Rising: Age of Monsters TPB: +$15 USD
- MECH: Age of Steel TPB: +$20 USD
For each book you add-on, you'll need to pay to increase your shipping by an extra +$5 USD in the US and +$10 USD internationally.
Risks and challenges
Q: What is a Tuckerization?
Tuckerization is the act of using a person's name as an in-joke or reference in a story. For the Kaiju Rising 2 Tuckerizations, only the name can be specified, and must be approved by the Outland Publications staff.
Q: Can Outland Publications handle this project?
Outland has run or managed a number of Kickstarters and we've learned a lot from them (frequently the hard way). We have a new, experienced, project management team, with Kickstarter fulfillment history and reputation. This is a simpler project with some nuances, but we're prepared to handle them, and we're shooting for the same exceptional success we've already had!
Q: What if the text isn't finished?
A: Everyone we're working with is a professional. There's no risk of text or art not being done. That being said, if the worst happens, we have back ups identified.
Q: What if the complexity of the project overwhelms Outland?
A: We have straight forward pledge levels to make it easy to manage, and we've budgeted our stretch goals up to our cap. In order to keep the project manageable for our small team, we've elected to have no stretch goals.
Q: Increase in shipping costs?
A: Shipping costs constantly rise, and while we've projected them to the best of our abilities, there's not a lot we can do if they change. However, due to the limitations on the size of our product, we're confident this won't be an issue.
Q: What if something happens to the principals?
A: If something were to happen to anyone on the project, we've identified our backups, and our team is spread all over the world. It'd take a really big asteroid, zombie apocalypse or alien invasion to wipe us all out. The files and plans have been communicated to the whole team, and a new project lead (who has been identified) will step up.
