Impeached! is a table top board game for 2-8 players that centers around the first term of our 45th President. Whether a fan or a foe of Mr. Trump, it is hard to deny that the President is a unique and colorful character!
Impeached! imagines President Trump’s first term and quest for reelection. Let’s face it, reelection is hard: Presidents must do their best to avoid the many pitfalls that can occur during their term - health problems, trouble with Congress, the temptation to corruption, damaging leaks, pesky reporters, foreign intrigue – and all while trying to make good on their campaign promises, keep their approval rating up, and keep that all-important campaign cash rolling in. Being President is not an easy task for anyone and may be especially challenging for Donald J. Trump, who has never before held elected office. Like President Trump, the game is a mixture of the factual and the fanciful. Factual elements include trivia from Mr. Trump’s life, anecdotes and historical facts from the 2016 election campaign, and news items from the Presidents’ first 100 days in office. Fanciful elements include invented scenarios on potential corruption and ways to make or lose campaign cash, exaggerations on Presidential powers, and impossible levels of approval rating along with hilarious ways approval rating can change. Luck, skill, and strategy combine with outrageousness and humor to keep things rolling. We believe that Impeached! is as much of an out-of-the ordinary experience as a game as Mr. Trump is as a President.
We’ve played the game with friends and acquaintances and they really liked it. They thought the game was well balanced: complicated enough to satisfy those who are competitive and trying to win while also being easy to understand and humorous enough to keep those more interested in the social aspects of board games engaged. Our players enjoyed trying to determine the best way to win reelection – should you do anything to accumulate money? Keep squeaky clean? Take risks? Stay conservative?....They also enjoyed the reminders of all the surprising things that went on in the 2016 campaign, learning some factoids about Mr. Trump, and the preposterous fictitious scenarios that pop up throughout the game. Our test players commented that just as in real life, Impeached! points out that there is always an element of luck involved in Presidential elections.
- 1 Board
- 280 Game Cards
- 8 Player Pieces
- Paper Currency
- 64 Approval Rating Chips
- 1 Die
- Instruction Manual
- Game Box
For 2-8 Players, 20-60 minutes, Ages 14+
The goal in Impeached! is to get “reelected” either by being the only remaining player on the board, by having the highest total money plus approval rating* when all remaining players are on the Reelection square, or by rolling a “one” with the die when you are on the Reelection square. There 5 types of spaces that repeat (Money, Corruption, Trivia, Campaign Outrage, and Approval Rating) and 18 unique spaces.
(*10% approval rating = $1 billion at end of the game.)
How to Play:
Each player starts with 100% approval rating and $10 billion in campaign cash. Players roll and move the number of spaces on the die. When a player lands on a Campaign Outrage, Approval Rating, Corruption, Money, or Trivia space, they draw a card of the same name and follow the instructions printed on the card.
Unless stated on the card, a player has the option to decline Corruption (and, unfortunately, the money that comes with keeping the card). If a player takes a Corruption card, they must retain the card until the time that they decide to roll, or must roll, to see if their corruption will get them impeached. If they survive this roll, they discard that Corruption card to the center of the board.
When a player lands on a Trivia space, a player next to them takes a card and asks them the trivia question. They will gain or lose $1 Billion depending on their answer.
When landing on one of the unique spaces, the text on that space will tell you what to do. An exception: you will need to roll a 1, 2, or 3 to get past the Mexican Border Wall. When you roll one of these numbers, you move the 1-3 spaces on that roll (that is, you don’t wait for your next turn).
You must have an exact roll to make it to the Reelection square. If you do not roll exactly, wait another turn and try again (it is hard to get to the finish line in election campaigns!)
If you make it to the Reelection square you must wait until all players that are left on the board (that haven’t had a heart attack, been killed by a foreigner agent, or been impeached) make it to the square, or roll as described below. When all remaining players are on the Reelection square the game is over: the player with the most combined money and approval rating wins. (Each 10% of approval rating cashes in for $1 Billion). If you are on the Reelection square and a player that has yet to arrive has more combined money and approval rating than you do, you might want to roll the die and take your chances. Roll a 1 - you win the game. Roll 2-5 - nothing happens and you wait for your next turn. Roll a 6 - you are impeached! (Just like in elections, sometimes it is not the richest or most popular candidate that wins, but the most fortunate one and/or the person who has an early lead).
You need to decide whether or not to be corrupt, and if you are corrupt, how corrupt you will be…. You also need to decide when to expend your approval rating. Risk taking has its rewards, but also its perils in Impeached! Finishing the game with less money and approval than others can cost you reelection, but if you get impeached along the way it is game over for you! What to do? As we have seen, even the best and most careful politician will occasionally be beaten by someone who catches all the breaks. So many choices...and such a large prize for the winner!
- There is no limit to the amount of approval rating or money you can accumulate. (For example, if you land on the Global Warming space you will end up with 140% approval rating, which is, of course, absurd.)
- If you run out of both money and approval rating you are out of the game. You may continue to play if you have one or the other.
- If the game is tied at the end, the player with the most money wins. If two or more players have the exact same amount of money and approval rating, both go to the Campaign Setback space and the game continues.
- You must have an exact roll to finish on Reelection square. If you roll more than the exact amount you stay where you are.
Can I decline a Corruption card but keep the money written on the card? Nope.
What happens if I run out of money? You are still in the game unless you are also out of approval rating.
If I get impeached am I out of the game? Most definitely. Your campaign is over.
Does a player have to tell me how much money and approval rating they have? Can they hide it? No, they must disclose their amounts of both.

This is our first Kickstarter campaign and we feel our goals are modest and attainable. Our team consists of two guys that enjoy games, politics, and good humor and a graphic artist with over thirty years of experience. We are confident that we can guide the game through the production process and deliver it to our backers on time. We really think people will enjoy this game; our friends and test players thought it was great.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
