407 backers pledged $20,502 to help bring this project to life.

Final bonus puzzle

The campaign is 70% funded with 30 hours to go. It's gonna come down to the wire, which is very exciting (and a little nerve-wracking)!

Many thanks to those of you who increased your pledges, added a gift subscription, and helped to spread the word. The campaign wouldn't be where it is without your help, and I am so grateful to have such supportive backers.

For your solving pleasure, here's one more bonus puzzle (PDF only). The file is password-protected, so you'll have to do a little puzzling in order to open it: What 5-letter being is my daughter going to dress up as for Halloween? It sounds like the name of a city. Enter your answer in ALL CAPS to access the crossword.

Enjoy!

Yeah, it was a tricky one. Don't think I'll be putting passwords on any more PDFs for a while. :)

Not sure if because it's Monday or I'm at work...but I had to google 5-letter Halloween creatures. I was able to figure it out finally though!

I'm not trying to be cruel. :) I sent you the answer directly, Deborah.

Here's another version of the riddle, as suggested by a backer:
"What 5-letter creature is my daughter going to dress up as for Halloween? Remove the first letter and you'll get the name of a city that is pronounced the same way as the creature."

Let me know if anybody wants another hint.

Since we're nearing the end of the campaign, and one person has received a private message with the answer to the Halloween riddle, perhaps you'll soon take pity on the rest of us and share it publicly! Given our support and all...thanks.

Sorry, just have encrypted that hint for those who don't want to see it...I forgot the comments are posted chronologically backward. D'oh!

      There. That should help. :)

Sure! The city is in North America and is *not* 5 letters.

A hint like the continent of the city would be a start. Or narrow it down even more. Thanks.

      Yes, please, another hint!

Is it possible to get another hint for your daughter's costume? My whole family has been working on it all afternoon to no avail. Although it has been fun trying...

Will all the puzzles be this difficult to access? I couldn't get into the first samples at all. And I can't begin to guess what your daughter wants to be for Halloween. Oh well, $30 toward your project... I guess I won't be able to use it. Good luck to you anyway.
