Very soon we will know who will be the next president of the United States. With the countdown to the election in full force, modern politics has combined with technology to help shape the social landscape with Carpool2Vote.com and the first-ever free ride-sharing app to the polls. The non-partisan app seeks to empower women voters and increase voter turnout by connecting voters needing a ride to the polls and by inspiring civic engagement.
A Call to Action is now in progress to recruit drivers and riders across the USA to download the Carpool2Vote app and sign up. As a volunteer-based initiative, the more drivers that exist means the more people Carpool2Vote can help to the polls on November 8th. This ride will be provided by 100% volunteer drivers and is women inspired for everyone.
Your support will mean we can bring our project from pure passion to scale and utilize monies raised for national media outreach and targeted social media advertising on Twitter and Facebook. Our goal is to reach ten thousand users, that is ten thousand users who may not have voted. To do this we need to raise $10,000 in five days.
Co-founded by Nicole Wild Merl and Thomas Cook, Carpool2Vote is a digital platform of The WomenVotes.org blog and social platforms, which were created by the first-ever virtual Education Cooperative from Northeastern University College of Professional Studies for the public benefit. The app was designed by Justin Insalaco, the CEO of 3BDreams, with the help of his team including Chief Architect, Matt Young, and advisor Will Donovan.
As a grassroots start-up, to empower this effort the Fall 2016 class at the Washington Media Institute has created a powerful series of public service announcements to help further spread the word and share their millennial voices (see Women in History and HOW TO videos as a sample).
"If there ever was a time that young people needed to get the voting habit - this is it. This has been an incredible opportunity for the students of the Washington Media Institute to become more than watchers in this election and through creating Carpool2Vote psa's have now become animated about the chance to vote for the first time.
Working with the Carpool2Vote has given these incredible young people who are learning how media is really practiced a true sense of what it takes to be a professional. We have been so proud to be afforded the chance to work on this non-partisan, highly patriotic project." Amos Gelb, Director, The Washington Media Institute and 3 time Emmy award winning Journalist
Proudly, we invite the entire Kickstarter community to join with us to make history in the presidential election. Let's join together and make an impact. One by one, we will bring people to the polls to vote and encourage and inspire our community through our passion for democracy.
Your support will allow us to grow as a company, advance our mission, and reinvent how we look at the future. #WomenVotes making history! www.womenvotes.org

Risks and challenges
As a grassroots startup, we have been able engage and secure important community collaborations to join our effort.
Our point of focus is to meet our stated goals for the presidential election. From there, we will move to further expand our purpose to empower women to run for elected office.
The free Carpool2Vote app will the be made available for future elections to serve our purpose.
At this stage, it is crucial for project to be able to raise funds for advertising to encourage rider and driver sign-ups and participation. Our success will be measured by the number of Carpool2Vote app downloads and riders and drivers from now to November 8th.
