Introducing NECF 2016 Artist: Jessica Pearson
We are so pleased to introduce NECF 2016 artist, Jessica Pearson, who will be setting her choreography on FusionworksII to be presented in the Public Performance in November. Jessica T. Pearson is an Assistant Professor of Dance at Rhode Island College. She is a dancer, educator and choreographer who has toured throughout the United States and Canada, dancing with the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, Gesel Mason Performance Projects, and Concepts In Motion Bermuda.
This sought-out educator has been invited to teach at Ballet West Summer Intensive, numerous dance schools, and has taught overseas for two years.
Prior to Rhode Island College, she was the recipient of the Raymond C. Morales Fellowship for the College of Fine Arts at the University of Utah in 2012. It was there she was invited to develop a course in the Ethnic Studies Department and won Utah’s Regional Ballet 2013 Choreography Design Project.
Ms. Pearson continues her studies with attendance to the Teaching Contemporary Limon Workshop, Horton Pedagogy Workshop, Knapsack Institute and the International Association of Blacks in Dance Conference. In 2016, her choreography was chosen to be presented in both the Southern Vermont Dance Festival and Ballet Inc.'s "The Series: Vol.1" in NYC.
Somewhat new to the area, Jessica aspires to be recognized in the New England region for her work as a dance artist. She looks forward to the opportunity that NECF 2016 presents in helping her share her art.
