Introducing NECF Choreographic Residency Artist, Gierre J Godley
We are thrilled to announce Gierre J Godley as one of the 2016 Northeast Choreographers Festival artists!
A 2010 graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts (MFA), Gierre J Godley is a dancer, choreographer, and teacher currently living in New York City. He began is training in Arkansas under the direction of C. Michael Tidwell and Arleen Sugano. Gierre has also had the privilege of training at the Ailey School and Millikin University (BS Biology, Dance Minor).
While in New York he has performed with Nathan Trice, Mitzi Adams, Kyle Abraham, Stefanie Nelson, Adam Barruch, and Matthew Westerby to name a few. Gierre has been on faculty at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy (LA), Fancy Feet Dance Studio (Bronx), Centre for the DansArts (Arkansas), and is currently an Adjunct Professor at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale.
As a choreographer Gierre has created works for The Steffi Nossen Dance Company, The Ailey School, Threads Dance Projects, and the Tidwell Project Dance Ensemble. In 2010,Gierre created PROJECT 44, an all male company dedicated to showcasing the beauty of male artistry throughout the arts. The group has been presented in various venues around the US and in international venues in Berlin, Montreal, Barcelona, and Manchester, England.
