Fusionworks Dance Company:
In 1987, people thought we were crazy. Only a small handful of the brave believed a passionate dancer could build a modern dance company that would stand the test of time. Through unwavering commitment to the power of movement, Fusionworks Dance Company has become an iconic symbol of art, culture and innovation. We believe in supporting the work of past traditions, current ideas, and giving back to the next generation of choreographers, dancers, and youth in our communities. We strive to go beyond the edge of the stage in all that we do. Our work is not only dance; it is life, it is community, it is different and it is good.
Fusionworks Dance Company is a nonprofit organization (501c3) and has been presenting work of exceptional artistry and excellence for 28 years. Also part of the Fusionworks trademark are our educational outreach programs, community involvement, and creative collaborations with choreographers, musicians, and other intermedia artists.
We are a group of passionate artists devoted to the continued growth of Fusionworks as a company and to furthering the arts in our communities.
Northeast Choreographers Festival:
In 2016, Fusionworks will push the envelope again as host of the inaugural Northeast Choreographers Festival, which will highlight the original works of some of the country's most innovative dance makers.
A handful of modern dance choreographers chosen from over 50 applicants nationwide will set their work on Fusionworks dancers during several week-long residencies this summer. This work will then be presented in the 2016 Northeast Choreographers Festival in Rhode Island during the Fusionworks Fall season.
The Northeast Choreographers Festival is Fusionworks’ largest endeavor to date; we are confident that with your support, it will be a success.

A few words from our board of directors:
"At Fusionworks, we are expanding our horizons to recognize and celebrate up-and-coming choreographers across the country. As the premier modern dance company in Rhode Island, we are dedicated to bringing you diverse and innovative performances that challenge our dancers and excite our audiences. This is our most ambitious program in our 28 year history and we are very excited to share it with you. We thank you in advance for your support!"
- Brian Corte, Fusionworks Board President
"One of the reasons I am MOST passionate about Fusionworks is the company's commitment to nurturing the next generation of dance artists. NECF will be an incredible opportunity to showcase up-and-coming choreographers, to bring innovative work to the stage, and to get communities, not just in Rhode Island but across the nation, excited about modern dance. And to be a part of the inaugural festival? I can't think of anything more awesome for this lifelong dance lover."
-Erica Busillo Adams, Fusionworks Board Vice President
Risks and challenges
A choreographer could withdraw from the project due to unforeseen circumstances, in which case we would offer the opportunity to our selected runner-up choreographer.
A choreographer's application could potentially be incongruent with his/her work during the residency week. We would express any concern if required, but also be prepared to accept some unexpected twists and turns in the work, viewing it as an opportunity to become more versatile.
Travel arrangements could fall through. We will be planning all of the details very carefully, but also include backup dates (shifting by a day, etc) in case of emergency/unforeseen circumstances.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
