About this project
You know Detroit, but do you really know Detroit? Detroit has more people engaged in creative pursuits than most cities in the country, both home-grown and artists migrating from all over the world for Detroit's creatively fertile landscape, cultural assets, and artist-friendly economy.
We want to tell the story of the D in its native tongue: art and music.
Combining new media, such as digital animation, with graffiti art, this Detroit documentary will tell the story of the founding of modern Detroit and take you through the punctate life of a city that has known heights that loosened it from the grips of gravity and unconscionable lows that made it a media firebrand.
Detroit gave the world the automobile and Motown, invented the industrial infrastructure of modern America (literally), and will give the world great artists, musicians, scientists, authors, and leaders for tomorrow. The narrative of this city will be imagined in this documentary like never before. We will paint the town with graffiti and Detroit will be the canvas for its own personal reflections and future aspirations.
But Detroit is not "it." Detroit is "us." You can be part of the story of Detroit by helping us tell it.
The funds from this Kickstarter will go toward the artists and supplies. We'll be working with Detroit residents and all graffiti work will be on the up and up.
