Who are you?
My name is Erik Copper, and I go by the artist name Copperhead. Thanks for checking out my campaign! I set this up to help raise funds for my debut album Self-Portrait and I'm grateful for your support!
When I was just 8 years old, I was diagnosed with a form of Autism known as Asperger's Syndrome. Up until that point, I'd always struggled to fit in with the rest of the kids, but that was the point it was finally given and name and a reason.
Since then, I've received so much love and support from friends and family that I feel I'm able to operate and function on a level that most of society considers "pretty normal." I still have my quirks and Erik-isms that make me who I am, but other than that...I'm just me.
And I want others to accept that.
What is this?
Self-Portrait is an album that came from a deeply personal place. All my life I've felt alienated and left out from most things due to my social ineptitude. And while it HAS gotten better over the years, some people still don't understand everything about me. This album is my attempt to show them, and to also come to terms with the fact that I'm different.
And that's okay.
Being different isn't inherently bad. Being different can mean a lot of things! But most of all, your differences make you who you are.
Don't let anyone take those away from you.

Sure thing! The music in this album is produced by the amazingly talented rapper/YouTuber Dan Bull and was used with his permission. I also operate a YouTube channel of my own, which you can find here.
The hope is to release this album onto digital platforms before summer next year. The recording process will be the most time-consuming part. I have drafts recorded, but finding a local studio with a good sound will be the thing. I know of a few in the area, but I want to find more options, even if it means taking a bit of a drive.
Can I hear some of the album?
You sure can! Click the image below for a few samples of tracks from the album. Each sample is about a minute long.
Risks and challenges
The biggest risk will be raising enough funds. I fully believe that I can do everything with the goal I've set, but getting to that goal is the challenge.
Another challenge would be finding a recording studio. As I've said, I know of a few local studios, but I want to find the best I can that is also within a decent distance. I don't live in a terribly music-heavy area so it will take a bit of digging.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
