Liamolly is a knitwear collection. Let's knit locally in New Orleans. Let's fund a knitting machine & receive a beautiful sweater.
Liamolly is a collection of knitwear. Founded in 2008 by designer Seema Sudan and husband, Sid Bertheaud, in a recovering New Orleans. In June of this year, our Asian knitting mill increased our minimums from 300 to 2,000 pieces per style, putting us out of business. With one knitting machine we can restart and rebuild our business by setting up a small local knitting mill in which our sweaters can continue to be sold through our online store. This will give us a chance to prove that local knitting is possible. We need your help to raise the 25% down payment. If we raise more, we can add more machines and bring the Liamolly brand to full fruition. We'll be able to expand our designs to include not only Women's but Men's, Kids and Home. We'll also be able to help other knitters by making their production. Help us bring knitting back to the USA, to stay in biz and to pass on the skill of knitting.
Liamolly is a knitwear collection based in New Orleans. Deeply rooted in the culture of knitting. My knits are timeless, meaning they are as far from fashion as they can be if you define fashion as something that comes and goes with the season.
Liamolly is named after my kids Liam and Molly because I like to think of each sweater being passed down to the next generation, becoming tomorrow’s heirlooms. Our knits are made to stand the test of time both in quality and in design. I don’t believe in disposable clothing. I believe in quality ethical craftsmanship which sometimes costs a little more but through careful engineering I do my best to keep them affordable.
Neighborhood Boutiques and Trunk Shows bring communities together and that is where you’ll find Liamolly knits. They have a distinct style and look to them, much more that just a label. My design process is simple. Just like any great recipe I start with the finest ingredients, meaning yarns. Then I let my imagination take me on a journey through time and around the globe with people I meet and collaborate with inspiring me along the way.
All my sweaters are made in the best, most innovative way possible. Think of those knits of yesterday, add modern jacquard knitting and then imagine them being made with less wastage and more innovation. A synergy of Modern Technology mixed with design and classic knitting goes into every piece. I design my knits here in New Orleans with all the local talent I can find and give back as much as possible to my community. I look forward to knitting them locally here as well.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy creating them.
Where we are: We are sold in 200 locally owned boutiques in the US and Anthropologie. We've been self financed since our start. We need 1 knitting machine to kickstart our local production, to prove it is possible. We have the sales, we just need the production.
1 machine will bring back our online retail store for spring 2012.
3 machines will let me fill my 200 locally owned boutique accounts.
4 machines will allow me to launch our Kids, Men's and Home collection.
6 machines will allow me to help other knitters with their production.
Once we get funded, you can choose any sweater on our website http://www.liamolly.com as your reward, even if the value is greater than $250. First come first choice so click early. We'll have a celebration rewards party in New Orleans so that I can thank you in person! and you can take home your rewards or I will mail them to you.
