SUPER MEGA BEST CAT ADVENTURES is a vividly colourful, psychedelic game shot straight into the depths of your subconscious. The most intense retro-future-twin-stick-shooter since sliced bread! Survive kaleidoscopic battles against unconventional enemies through randomly generated levels. Plus there's definitely a frog in it.
SUPER MEGA BEST CAT ADVENTURES mixes the crazy intense wave-based action of classic arcade games such as Llamatron 2112 and modern rogue-like exploration of games like The Binding of Issac. Become the SUPER MEGA BEST CAT ADVENTURES you always knew you could be!

As your adventure continues you will uncover increasingly exotic locations - each with randomised and destructible scenery. Soar through time and space. Bounce over candy-floss clouds. Scale gold plated mountains. Take the bus to the supermarket to pick up some beef.
Every time you start a new game, face a fresh challenge in a new one-off maze! Discover hidden rooms to reveal secrets and unusual treasures!
Expect to encounter a vast array of charismatic creatures, including the following enemies and many more!
Ham: I love ham at Christmas.
Cat-Lolly: Once, the lollies and the cats lived harmoniously. So harmoniously that they made adorable cat-lolly cross-breeds. Unfortunately they wanted to destroy the world.
Zombie clones: These dudes suck the life out of every party. Before you know it you've got a room full of even more zombies.
Bomber: These flashing guys drop time-bombs that tear holes in the floor! Take them out fast or there'll be nowhere left to sit down and lick yourself.
Banana bunch: Everyone knows cats hate bananas.
Wool ball: A bouncing ball of carnage that lures your kittens all over the place.
Washing machines: Careful, their vigorous wash cycles make them rumble around unpredictably! They also unleash dangerously clean underwear. Stay away - cats hate socks more than they hate Keith.
Prawn toasts: They're made of prawns so definitely aren't vegetarian.
Train: I wrote a paragraph here that had at least 15 train puns in but I deleted it because wow, it was awful.
Finely-honed precision arcade controls. Become one with your inner cat with 3 styles of play - choose between gamepad, keyboard only or a keyboard and mouse combo.
The game will be released DRM-free for the PC as either a direct download or through online stores.
If the game passes Greenlight then all backers will also receive a Steam key.

A game only truly comes alive with wonderful music. I'm very lucky to be working with an incredible artist for SUPER MEGA BEST CAT ADVENTURES. An entirely original soundtrack is in the works by NintenKwonDo! - master of crazy chiptune beats! Check out some of what we've got lined up already!

SUPER MEGA BEST CAT ADVENTURES has been in development for three years. I've come a long way by myself, working in my spare time to design and develop the artwork and gameplay. Your support will help cover external costs such as sound design and fund the final run of in-game content - crafting the visuals and refining the gameplay. With this funding I'll be able to really make the game into something amazing.
The funds raised from this Kickstarter will go into the following areas:
Art and programming: 20% of the funding will go towards a modest salary for me to work on the game for 1 day a week. The game will turn out so much better (and finished!) because of this extra time to develop it. I will continue working on the project in my spare time as well.
Music and sound design: 10% of the target funding will go to NintenKwonDo! for his great work on the music and sound effect work. I'm very excited to hear the great audio he can make for the project.
Reward production costs: I've reserved 20% of the budget to produce the awesome physical rewards to send you. I've included costs of prototyping so that I can make sure the rewards are the best quality possible.
Promotion: 15% of the budget has been reserved to help show the game to a larger audience. I plan to take SUPER MEGA BEST CAT ADVENTURES to a handful of expos to connect with potential players, other game developers and members of the press. This experience will give me precious feedback that will help the game be as much fun as possible.
Fees: Combining the commission taken by Kickstarter and payment processing fees amounts to a total cost of around 10% of the value of the project.
Taxes: In the UK, I can expect to have to pay around 20% of the value of the project in taxes back to the government.
Contingency: 5% of the funding will be reserved in case of any unexpected issues.

Risks and challenges
I've taken the project this far with my own resources - but I need support taking the game forward and making it as great as I know it can be.
I'm confident in my technical and artistic ability to complete the game to the fullness of my vision. Most of the main game systems and design workflow are in place. The main tasks to be done are the straightforward (but time consuming) ones of adding content, visual polish and removing any bugs in the code.
I do not foresee any unexpected risks within the development process and will post regular updates so that backers can see the progression of the project. I have factored in a contingency to the budget in case any unexpected problems do occur.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
