Postcards in your mailbox!
Update: You can choose the city you'd like the postcard from. I'll be printing a series of 5-10 postcards for each city, so you can get multiple postcards from one or a few cities if you'd like. Check the updates section for more info.
On August 19th I'll be taking to the streets of Europe for 6 weeks and I want to send you custom made postcards while on the road.
My name is Sean and I take pictures of people. I try to candidly document today's
culture, lifestyle and fashion. I make an effort to travel often to
broaden my horizons while slapping "Sean Was Here" stickers everywhere I
go. I started my "Sean Was Here" project in 2009 as a way to share
these candid moments of life. I've gotten a great response from my
photos and I thought it would be a cool idea to try and share them as
postcards. You can view my work at SeanWasHere.com
The purpose of this kickstarter project is for me to be able to share my travel experiences as a photographer by giving you something to look forward to in your mailbox instead of bills and advertisements. The kickstarter funds would mostly be used for funding the cost of the postcards, printer, ink, and shipping. The trip itself is paid for - I've got my plane ticket and am ready to go!
These are my tentative plans:
Fly into Portugal
For each city I spend time in, I'll be using my camera to candidly document the culture and lifestyle of that city. I've had a lot of experience with this type of photography over the last few years as I've been working on my SeanWasHere project (SeanWasHere.com). I'll then use my portable printer to turn the photos into postcards. These postcards will be postmarked and mailed from the city the photo originated.
The printer I'll be using is a Canon CP900 - a portable photo/postcard printer: "Dye-sublimation technology uses heat to transfer ink to the paper, reproducing approximately 16.8 million colors for amazing pictures in both color and black and white. Then, a clear protective coating is added which helps prevent against damage from light, water and gases" . I'll be shipping the paper and ink to a friend in Europe so I don't have to worry about packing it.
Alternatively, if you are not in the position to back this project, you can equally show your support by following me on Instagram, Facebook, or Tumblr @SeanWasHere. Thank you!

Risks and challenges
Equipment theft or failure while on the road is probably the biggest risk here. If anything should happen I'll do my best to continue the project by getting a replacement printer or camera.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
