I'm honored that you're here. Lemme tell you a little more about the album (feel free to ask questions)...
WHO = I've enlisted some of my favorite musicians & friends & people to collaborate on this record. Here are some of the collaborators:
- Aaron Strumpel: trumpet
- Amber Mattfield: violin
- Brenna Thummler: illustration
- Caleb Friesen: drums & percussion
- Dave Wilton: mixing & mastering
- Jason Barrows: electric guitar
- Jesse Proctor: drums & percussion
- Jon Class: organ
- Lane Winters: vocals
- Miranda Arana: flute
- Wilhelm Koenig: percussion
WHAT = A brand new Zdub album —14 tracks of my best, most extroverted & yummiest work to date. The themes of companionship and traveling, wrestling and love, run heavily through the album. After some hand pain, I started changing my playing style while writing some of these new songs. I opened up my hand (which felt nicer) and started playing with my thumb. And the groove followed. Definitely the grooviest album to date.
WHERE = We've recorded the vast majority in our home. But I've also packed up my gear and traveled to Colorado & North Carolina to record, as well as doing some remote tracking with Jesse Proctor.
WHEN = I officially started work on the project Sept 1st. And we've scheduled the final mix & master to happen mid-May. The album will be due out mid-June. (Vinyl could be ready in the fall if we make that stretch goal.)
WHY = I want to answer this a few different ways. Deep why: communion. Making music has been a major sweet spot in my life in how I connect with God. Writing & releasing music are a couple ways I have learned to give that away to others. Next why: Kickstarter is the nearest thing I know currently that lets me as an artist connect directly with my listeners, providing a diverse menu of how you can engage with the work, and directly enabling me to create it by pre-ordering it here.

$27k = Vinyl (I've wanted to do vinyl for a while, but it's not cheap. If we make it this far, I'll be able to afford a vinyl run.)
$30k and over = Studio upgrade. I've recorded all my albums at home with fairly limited resources. An upgrade will speed my future work and help me continue to grow. I'm sitting on roughly ~15-20 more half-finished songs that I'm already looking forward to finishing out as another project. Big dream would be to have my own space.
