The goal of The Quaint and Quizzical Cosmos series is to introduce deep human history to kids in a fun and whimsical way.
About the Series:
Where did we come from? A lot of us have heard of The Big Bang or the famous Lucy Australopith skeleton. But how is it all connected? The Quaint and Quizzical Cosmos provides a timeline for human evolution, starting as far back as the origin of the atoms and elements that make up our bodies.
The first book, The Quaint and Quizzical Cosmos: The Big Bang, introduces children to basic physics concepts, including matter, energy, and gravity.
Book number two, The Quaint and Quizzical Cosmos: Galaxies, will explain the evolution and anatomy of The Milky Way, while exploring the properties of black holes, dark energy and matter.
As black holes guzzle nearby stars, amidst all the clatter, remains a mysterious force that scientists call “dark matter.”
Now if you thought black holes were weird, you’re in for a surprise. 'Cause dark energy and matter are invisible to our eyes!
With each book, we will travel through time, getting closer to the evolution of life on Earth, dinosaurs, and finally our distant human ancestors. The concepts that aid scientific understanding of these events will be inextricably linked to each episode.
About The Kickstarter Project:
Funds raised from Kickstarter will go towards:
- Printing copies of the first book for in-store sales
- Reservation of a booth at the Bay Area Book Festival in June 2015
- Illustration costs
I hope to instill the knowledge and sense of awe that comes with understanding our distant ancestry to children from all walks of life. I have a deep passion for science, and I intend to spread the bug!
Please join me in this mission to provide science education to the children of today and tomorrow.
