When we started planning this campaign, we thought we were maybe getting ahead of ourselves to even plan our Stretch Goals. We thought we were maybe putting the cart far, far ahead of the horse. It smacked of arrogance to us.

Shows you what we know. In the space of five days, you've mowed each and every one of those goals down.

The Annotated Process of Lady Sabre is now unlocked, and the book will become a reality. You can read about it under the Stretch Goals heading on the page. As of this time, if you pledged $30 or more, you'll be getting this book along with your copy of the trade and your copy of the Pocket Guide. We're still trying to figure out how to handle the new postage costs. We'll keep you posted on that, as well.

Rick, Eric, and I are going to take the weekend to consider where we want to head next. All three of us agree that any further Stretch Goals will be directed towards improving the quality of those items already on offer. In particular, we're revisiting the specs on Vol. 1 itself, to see what we can do to make it better. Our endpapers, for instance, were the same paper-weight as the interior pages; we're now considering jumping them up to a two-color process on a heavier stock. We hope to announce any new Stretch Goals by Tuesday of next week (14 May).

To take you into the weekend, we wanted to share with you one of the pin-ups that'll be included in the trade. You can see Karl Kerschl's piece on the page. Below is a piece done by the talented and effervescent Bethany Westmoreland of Her Ladyship pondering the Aether.

Until Monday,

Hold fast!

On the Topic of Add-Ons and Other FAQs

Posted by Greg Rucka (Creator)

These have been some crazy two days, folks! Rick, Eric, and I are all still reeling from the success of the launch, and from the amazing support all of you have offered. And - speaking personally - I'm as much delighted as I am terrified. We were looking to fund a run of 2,000 books. We may well have to increase the numbers of that run. And then there's the pocket guide. We'll need 2,000 of those! And if we make it to the next stretch goal… I have visions of boxes and boxes and boxes of books filling every corner of my home….

Right, onto actually UPDATING you! We've been working on the FAQ, and hopefully that's answered the majority of questions that you've all been asking. What I want to talk about right now is the introduction of ADD-ONs.

For those of you who haven't used add-ons before, a brief explanation: if you've seen something in the Rewards that you'd like, but your current pledge doesn't include that item or service, you can adjust your contribution to now include anything from the provided add-on list. You are free to add as many items as you like, or multiples of the same item, ie, you've pledged at PLATED, but you want two of the dog tags, as well. We can do that!

Right now, add-ons are for those items and services in unlimited numbers, with the sole exception of the RARE & ROYAL add-on. In other cases of limited number offerings (the OBJET D'ART level, for instance), we're still trying to figure out what we can do. We will, as always, keep you posted.

A final note: Add-Ons are only available if you've pledged at the INSCRIBED level ($50), and will incur no additional mailing costs.

So how does this work, you ask.

Make a pledge at the Reward level of your choice. In the case of limited-number items, you should absolutely do this first, before they're all gone.

Use the MANAGE YOUR PLEDGE button to adjust the dollar amount of your pledge to incorporate the add-ons of your choice from the list below. Example: You pledged PLATED for $50, but you'd like a keychain. The keychain is offered as a $10 add-on, so your new - managed - pledge is $60.

When our Campaign has ended, we will be in touch with you via the Kickstarter Survey function. At that time, we will verify with you your Add-Ons.

And then, uhm... well, that's pretty much it, honestly. Remarkably simple.

Here's the current Add-On List. It is likely (though not guaranteed) that we'll be offering additional items and services through this list, including new items not included in the Rewards, as the campaign moves forward. This list will also be added to Kickstarter page shortly.

•  Add-On - Any single Tintype-Style Portrait - $5 (You will be asked to specify which character via Survey following the end of the campaign).
•  Add-On - Tintype Triptych - $10
•  Add-On - Patches - Privateer, both patches. Letter of Marque included - $25
•  Add-On - Patches - Cowpoke, both patches. Letter of Authorization included - $25
•  Add-On - Dog Tag - $15
•  Add-On - Keychain - $10

•  Add-On - Rick's Remarque to RARE & ROYAL, penciled and inked - $50

Additionally, when Survey time comes, I'll be asking our RARE & ROYAL backers if they want me to personalize an inscription in their copy. All R&R editions will already be signed by both Rick and myself, but I intentionally did not offer personalization in the description, as some people may wish the book "pristine." That said, I'm delighted to personalize your copy, and we'll have an option in the Survey to instruct me to do so. This is at no extra fee.

A final note, if you're still in a giving mood after all of this, we'd love to direct you to the Teramyyd: Earthsphere Kickstarter, by IO Worlds. Their campaign is funded and ending shortly, but if you're looking to sail the almost-Aether, they're presenting a table top game to let you do just that.

Stay tuned for another update shortly that will include Avatars for our backers and a preview of one of the pin-ups!

Thank you for your time, your patience, your overwhelming support, your exceptional awesomeness, and, as ever,

Hold fast!

Update the First, or, That Sound You Just Heard

Posted by Greg Rucka (Creator)

Wow, you guys weren't fooling around!

We've been told we broke some records Monday, and frankly, Eric, Rick, and I are stunned at the support and response the campaign has received. It's humbling, and it's far more than we expected. We cannot thank each of you enough. We will do everything in our power to reward your faith with our best efforts in the days, weeks, and months to come.

Our initial goal of 27.5K wasn't just met, it was decimated. To such an extent, in fact, that you actually blew past our first Stretch Goal, which we'd planned for 35K. You can see a description of it on the Kickstarter Page, below the Stretch Goal heading. Long story short, every order of the book will now come with a two-sheet Lady Sabre paper doll set, created by papercrafter Linda Candello, using Rick's designs. These will be printed up in full-color, on 100lb matte or its nearest equivalent, and depict Her Ladyship and some of the choices from her fabulous wardrobe. Additionally, the PDF files for the paper dolls will be included in the digital package. This means that if you backed us at the $20 level or higher, you're getting the paper dolls in one form or another or, more likely, both.

Stretch Goal two is a bit further afield, as it's more ambitious - the Pocket Guide to the Sphere by Edwin Windsheer. This is a crafted piece of ephemera, something we hope will look and feel and read as if it fell through time and space into your hands from the Sphere. Roughly designed to be the size and feel of a small casebound Moleskine, printed in black-and-white, and containing various sketches and writings by the foremost chronicler of the Sphere's Fourth Age (IV.E). This will run 32-pages, and contain all original content, never before published on either the website or in print. Depending on the response, we may expand the book to 64-pages, which would make more sense, but, also, cost more. We shall see!

Stretch Goal three… yeah, well, we're already getting ahead of ourselves.

Finally, we've added a new backer tier, what we're calling "Rare & Royal." This is a limited (100 of 100) run of the book, bound in imitation leather with foil-stamped case and spine, ribbon bookmark, and matching foil-stamped slipcase. This is kinda our dream edition, to be honest, and we weren't sure we could even afford to offer it. You've proven us wrong, so after some discussion, we've committed to its run. This, as we explain in the reward description, is the book as we envision it on Her Ladyship's shelf. Each copy is numbered and signed by Rick and myself, and comes with the Lady Sabre dog tag designed by Optimystical Studios.

Once more, our sincerest gratitude for all your support, from your pledges in backing us to your retweets, tumbles, and facebookings. Please continue to spread the word!
