The Rose City Comic Con Update

Rose City 'Til I Die

This is very short notice, I realize, but if you're a backer who hasn't received your books and you'll be attending Rose City Comic Con this weekend (September 20-21) and you would like to collect your books in person, please let me know via Kickstarter private message, or alternately using the "contact" option at the Lady Sabre Website as soon as possible.

Again, if you're attending the show this weekend and would like to collect your books from us there, we need to hear from you BEFORE FRIDAY THE 19TH.

I am sincerely sorry to drop this on you guys at such short notice.

For the third and final time -- we need to hear from you before September 19th, Friday morning, or else we will not be able to prepare your books for pick-up.

I'm Not Going to Rose City Comic Con and I'm Patient But This Is Getting Ridiculous, Greg

No argument. We're doing the best we can, I wish I could tell you something other than that. It's slow going right now, but we're hoping to recruit some significant help before the end of the month for the final push on getting everything packaged and mailed. At this point, we've about 1000 orders still to fill, and of those roughly 250 copies still need personalized inscriptions, but hopefully these should move more quickly, as most as either Basic, Plated, or Chained.

We shall, as always, try to keep you posted.

Hold Fast,

Greg

@Shawn, if you want to shoot me a message using the Kickstarter message system, that'd be groovy.

Greg, I live in Portland. Would it be possible to just swing by a pick mine up some night?

I agree with Paul. I am good waiting a little longer if there are squeaky wheels that need to be dealt with.

      Happy holding.
You have handled the situation perfectly and I am happy to wait as long as it takes.
Thanks very much for your consideration and updates.
      Still very excited.

Good things come to those who wait. I've no problem waiting longer if you want to send someone who's complaining and push mine back.

As a wise friend once said, "Life takes longer than we plan." So no worries here. I look forward to being pleasantly surprised with a package one day when I least expect it.

My birthday is on September 27th and I would love to get this as an awesome birthday present. However my name starts with a W so...
This has been a rollercoaster of a ride and I have loved every minute of it.
      Thanks!

Appreciate the comments, everyone. Thank you! Specifics:

@Robert -- Ooooh boy, are we WAAAAAY ahead of you on this. The biggest mistake we've made in this Kickstarter is underestimating the response we got and thus in managing fulfillment (both in terms of cost and labor). We are NOT making that mistake again. If we do a campaign for Vol. 2, we will -- I repeat, WILL -- be using a fulfillment service. I've actually already started looking into a few of them (in my copious free time...).

@Ronnie - Yay! Glad she liked it!

Greg, Neil Gaiman just tweeted that he's fulfilling the orders for Stardust painted sets that were placed 18 years ago. All things being equal, you're doing GANGBUSTERS! :D Hold fast!

Greg, don't feel too badly about the delay (or about making books available to people at comic con). I admit, I've had moments of feeling impatient, but I keep coming back to the fact that I understand the reason for the delays, I don't want you guys to suffer more than necessary, and I certainly don't want you to suffer for the sake of appearances -- just to be able to say, "look how hard we're working" (and I say that, having had projects myself where I ended up suffering just so that I could say to myself, as well as to other people, "look how hard I'm working.").

Take care of real-life priorities first, make an effort to keep shipping books, and I'm happy to wait for as long as it takes.

I'm not impatient and I'm happy to wait for the book. I'm just glad that we were all able to help y'all make it into print. I really do feel that way. That said, I would respectfully suggest that for future KS projects that you budget for a fulfillment team that could help collate, pack, and ship the rewards. It might make the pledge levels a little bit higher, but I think it would be so much easier. You've probably already thought of this yourself or heard someone else suggest it, so apologies for soliciting advice where none was requested. I really do appreciate your efforts.

1000 to go means you are almost 2/3 done, you are getting there.

    13. Ronnie M on

@Greg - Thanks for the update. I'll enjoy the book when it gets here. I'm excited to let my wife read it too. You really impressed her when we met at Wizard World Chicago several years ago. We still have the Wonder Woman comic that you inscribed for her.

    14. Greg Rucka Creator on

@D - no, we're not sending out notifications, as we're not equipped for it this time around. Once all shipping is complete, there'll be an update to that effect, and you can safely assume that if you don't have your books within 10 days or so from that time, there's been a complication, probably postal. Just notify us if that happens and we'll track the package and issue a replacement if needed.

@Edward - best way is to send me a message via Kickstarter with your preferred mailing address. I'll check to see if that's the one we have for you on file or not, and make any adjustments needed.

How can I check which address you guys have for me please? This has taken so long to complete (totally understand - not a moan honest!) I've moved house and am concerned you may have my old address on file. I'd hate to have to wait so long and then have it not turn up, especially as my postal redirection ended a couple of months ago. Thanks!

Stupid question perhaps: are you notifying people as their books go out or do we just need to keep an eye on the post box?
