My name is Dwayne Blackmon and I’m the inventor of the Save Me Alert system. I came up with the ideal of the Save Me Alert system back in August 2016, I got tired of seeing all the news articles and hearing all of the stories of so many children dying from heat stroke because their love ones or caregivers forgot about them. Year after year I sat back and thought that the government or someone a lot smarter than me would come up with a way to prevent this from happening, last year I finally stop waiting and get off my butt and went to work.
Save me alert system provides a solution to the problem by providing an alarm (a cry for help) for the forgotten child left behind in the vehicle. The alarm is activated when the driver turns off the ignition and then sounds of 60 seconds after and does not cease until the person secured in the backseat is removed or the vehicle Ignition system is reenergized.
Risks and challenges
Many people asked is there really need for this alarm system? The only thing I can say is since 1998 732 children have died from heat stroke from being left inside at vehicles. We’ve all heard the heartbreaking stories of the parents and caregivers crying on television saying I don’t understand how this could have possibly happened! I know we all say that’ll never happen to me, but isn’t it worth it to take a small preventive measure if it would save a child’s life and the grief and the pain the caregivers will have to live with?Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
