We are a classical piano duo couple, and we are planning to record an album with pieces for two pianos and percussion. We have an exciting program that includes the Bartok Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion and a thrilling piece called Pulse Magnet by an Australian composer Matthew Hindson. We are also hoping to record on this CD the Rite of Spring, the transcription for two pianos with our own arrangement of the additional percussion parts. Pascal has done extensive amount of recording in the past, with recording companies like Decca. However, now he records with his own label, which means that everything comes from our own pockets, and the expenses could add up to an exorbitant amount. Nevertheless, the Pascal-Ami duo has produced two successful recordings, but this third one we are hoping to do, will have even more supplementary expenses, as we have to hire the percussionists as well as the rental of enormous amount the percussion gears. We are estimating the cost to go beyond $10,000, possibly $15,000 or more, but we are setting our Kickstarter limit at $3000 in hopes of a successful funding. We really really want to do this project, and we are hoping that you could help us! Thank you so much!! Pascal & Ami Rogé
Risks and challenges
The few risks and challenges we are facing are
#1 - It could possibly be more expensive that we had anticipated. (but we will still hopefully do this!)
#2 - there is a slight copyright issue with the Stravinsky estate. The Rite of Spring at the moment is in Public Domain only in the U.S., so they might not agree with the addition of the percussion. But we are making the case for this, as there have already been other arrangements made and on the market now. If it doesn't work, we will still record the other two pieces and then either play the existing piano duet version, or substitute it with another piece.
