This book is for anyone who has ever been bullied. This book is for anyone who has ever been a bully themselves. This book is for anyone who has ever had to wipe away the tears of someone who has been bullied. Parents, teachers, friends.....we need this book. As a parent, I have seen the pain words can cause. I've seen my daughter come home in tears. I've seen my son try to stay strong when I ask him how his day at school went. The bottom line is, words hurt.
This story is told by an adorable young lady named Rosie, who just wants to understand why kids are so mean to her. She wants her classmates to know that words hurt and can destroy a person, and that we should be celebrating our differences. By backing this project, you are helping show children that differences make us stronger. And that should be celebrated and honored!
The writer and founder of Chunky Girl Comics has branched out into the world of children's literature and is bringing you an adorable and meaningful tale of a young girl who is tired of being picked on and being called fat. So she sings this story of inclusion, positivity and diversity to her classmates!
In world where kids are bullied, shamed and picked on every day and learning that the world is a cruel place, the crew at Chunky Girl Comics has devoted their time and energy to promoting self love, loving the skin you're in and celebrating everyone and their individuality.
What makes this project extra ordinary is that the artist, is Stockton, CA teenager, Kaitlyn Lundelius! Kaitlyn and her dad have been supporters of Chunky Girl Comics since its inception and when Marisa started working on the project, she thought it would be a great idea to have a child do the artwork!
By helping to support this project, you are helping young kids realize their self worth and their importance. You are also helping those kids who have become bullies, realize that words hurt and that life is so much more happy and pleasant when everyone feels good about themselves. This is the primary tool that will be used in our outreach work in elementary schools and other community events.
