Just a quick note to say a HUGE thank you!  We have successfully met our Kickstarter goal. You are an awesome group - 99 in all!  We feel so grateful to have so many incredible people supporting this project and the Reel Thing team to get 'er done!  We will be sure to keep you posted on our progress and get your "prizes" out to you just as soon as the sage dries and Michelle finds a good yellow cake recipe.

Great write up in IndieWire!

Below is a link about the Hot Docs Pitching Forum. Uranium Drive-In gets a really nice mention (and photo!)

Here's a nice excerpt from the article with a special mention of Ben Knight's fantastic cinematography for the project:

"Beraza and Kohin, who most recently had success with the doc “Bag It,” turn their attention to another environmental subject with a personal connection - they live in the vicinity of the proposed mill. Their trailer featured some of the most beautiful cinematography of any of the pitches, indicating a visual sensibility that will uniquely capture their controversial, complex subject."

Thanks for all of your support!

Uranium Drive-In team

We can do it!

First off, thank you all so much for your support of Uranium Drive-In. We all feel such incredible gratitude. We have a busy shoot schedule throught the rest of June as we have been asked to present scenes to several potential broadcaster partners that we met with at Hot Docs in Toronto ... so full speed ahead.

We are thrilled that we have less than $500 to go to reach our goal! We hope that you will spread the word to your friends, family and colleagues and ask them to get involved with our campaign as well. Let's go viral, baby! We would be so thankful to go OVER our goal and bring this campaign to a close with a big bang.

Again, thank you all for your enduring belief and support. We can't do any of this without you!

With gratitude,

Suzan Beraza, director

Just Back from Hot Docs!

Judy and Suzan were in Toronto, Canada last week for the Hot Docs Forum, a gathering of filmmakers and industry commissioning editors, all checking out the latest up and coming documentaries. Our gals presented a 7-minute 'pitch' about Uranium Drive-In to 450 people in the prestigious Hart Hall at Victoria College. It was 'scary, exhilarating and educational' they said, and Uranium Drive-In was extremely well received. This is the place where commissioning editors from all over the world view new and emerging films, and select films to program at their stations back home over the next year.

Uranium Drive-In was only one of 27 films selected to present, and one of 7 American teams. "We were so honored to be at Hot Docs among some incredible films and filmmakers. What a privilege," noted Suzan. "The caliber of the other pitch teams was incredible."

The goal for us was to meet potential buyers, and we had quite a bit of interest from both domestic and international broadcasters. We were able to have private meetings with a number of significant commissioning editors and funding organizations. Suzan and Judy will follow up in the next few weeks, and we hope their meetings and discussions will prove fruitful.

Meanwhile, we have 25 days left! Spread the word! We hope to make our goal to finance our summer shooting schedule.

Thanks again for your encouragement and support!
