Judy and Suzan were in Toronto, Canada last week for the Hot Docs Forum, a gathering of filmmakers and industry commissioning editors, all checking out the latest up and coming documentaries. Our gals presented a 7-minute 'pitch' about Uranium Drive-In to 450 people in the prestigious Hart Hall at Victoria College. It was 'scary, exhilarating and educational' they said, and Uranium Drive-In was extremely well received. This is the place where commissioning editors from all over the world view new and emerging films, and select films to program at their stations back home over the next year.
Uranium Drive-In was only one of 27 films selected to present, and one of 7 American teams. "We were so honored to be at Hot Docs among some incredible films and filmmakers. What a privilege," noted Suzan. "The caliber of the other pitch teams was incredible."
The goal for us was to meet potential buyers, and we had quite a bit of interest from both domestic and international broadcasters. We were able to have private meetings with a number of significant commissioning editors and funding organizations. Suzan and Judy will follow up in the next few weeks, and we hope their meetings and discussions will prove fruitful.
Meanwhile, we have 25 days left! Spread the word! We hope to make our goal to finance our summer shooting schedule.
Thanks again for your encouragement and support!
